Ms.Huxtable
Say I wanted to bring a band to Ottawa/Gatineau area (Or within 20kms). Say I wanted to hold it someplace where I could get a liquor licence as opposed to having it in a bar. Say I needed a good stage area and room for 250 people. Where would I go? bradm
I remember hearing that anybody could rent out Barrymore's for a night for something like several hundred dollars. How about that place where we had the stag & doe for Pablo Sanchez and kitkat? Was that the Bronson Centre? It had a stage, but you'd need to rent a sound system and have somebody man the board.Aloha,Brad
Velvet
What Bradm said. Very reasonable rental and booze is okay (a hard combo to find).
Freeker
Isn't there a sweet room in the Bronson Centre (not the one we were in for the stag and doe) One better designed to see a band in? If not I know a "place" but after today you'll have to shovel off the stage.
traveler
Dom Polanski hall on Frank St.Lakeside gardens Britania. Its alot less work to do it at a bar.It helps to say your having sa stag party when booking.
bradm
How about Mavericks? I think they've done private parties before, it holds about 200 people (IIRC, from NYEs in years past), has a full bar, a good stage, and a decent sound system.Aloha,Brad
Freeker
Maverick's would probably do it. They love us for some strange reason.
Ms.Huxtable
Mavericks of course was our first thought, but we'd like to consider the thought of fund raising through bar profits. Don't think average show. That's not the plan. Just brain storming at this point.
Guest Low Roller
My guess is that she's looking for a place to hold her wedding reception guys. I don't think Maverick's will do the trick.Depending how much you want to spend you may want to look into the hotels downtown that offer reception areas. I think the Delta has something. Surely you can find something through Minto.I seem to remember a place by Uplands (Tudor Hall??) where my friend has his reception. You also may want to look into noise curfew for some of these places if you intend on throwing a raging party into the wee hours.Good luck Sharon! Im going home Donny
too bad you can't rent out the Diefenbunker anymore. My buddy was saying his friend held a rave there once...that musta been pretty bizzarre.I really liked the place KitKat and Pablo wound up holding their gig at...I exspecially liked the stage. TomFoolery
I just heard about a place out on Wellington (kinda in Mechanicsville) called the Echo Hall or something like that - started with an E anyhow.Sounds cheap and fairly central.Lemme know if it interests you and I'll call my buddy that's doing a party there.
