StoneMtn
Hmmmmm ... so I guess the old-school ethics from the high seas, that would require the captain to go down with the ship, no longer apply in the 21st Century?(Frankly, I don't know how brave I would have been had I been skipper of that ship, but then again I don't think I'm suited to that profession.)"They left us in the water for 24 hours. A helicopter flew over us but did not care," others complained. Reuters news agency claimed, the captain of the ship, Seyyid Omar, escaped as soon as the fire started. Several survivors told Reuters that they warned the captain about the fire, but he said, "There is nothing to worry about, and went on his way. We were wearing life jackets but the crew asked us to take them off because there was no problem. The ship started to sink and the captain left the ship by jumping into one of the life boats. The crew trying to control the fire also escaped when the situation got worse."

Jaimoe
The Toronto Sun also reported today that the crew took the passengers life-preservers and then locked passengers in their cabins.Unbelievable story.

Velvet
The paper this morning says they haven't found the captain yet. But if it was me, I'd be hiding out somewhere inland.
