GASCOIGNE ARRESTED

Posted 08/11/06 10:13EmailPrintSave

Former England star Paul Gascoigne has been arrested in west London on suspicion of actual bodily harm, sources said today.

The ex-Newcastle and Tottenham midfielder was held in South Kensington, West London, in the early hours of this morning, sources said.

He was arrested after a 43-year-old man alleged that he had been assaulted at a nightclub in the area.

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said:

''Police were called at approximately 3.40am by a 43-year-old man who alleged that he had been assaulted by another man at a club in South Kensington.

''Following inquiries, a 39-year-old man was arrested at a separate club nearby at 4.15am on suspicion of actual bodily harm and is currently in custody at a south west London police station.''

It is thought the alleged victim of the assault was a photographer.
