I had vegetarian haggis when I was in Edinburgh in 1999. Yes, I know that seems contradictory, but it just a flavourful oatmeal cake kind of thing. (I also had smoked haddock, aka finnan haddie. I seem to recall a few stumbles back from the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre during that trip; they pretty much got to know me by name by the end of the week.)

It may be a good chance to bust out the Distiller's Edition Lagavulin tonight. Mmmmmm...peat bog....

Aloha,

Brad

Frae The Friends And Land I Love

Frae the friends and land I love,

Driv'n by Fortune's felly spite;

Frae my best belov'd I rove,

Never mair to taste delight:

Never mair maun hope to find

Ease frae toil, relief frae care;

When Remembrance wracks the mind,

Pleasures but unveil despair.

Brightest climes shall mirk appear,

Desert ilka blooming shore,

Till the Fates, nae mair severe,

Friendship, love, and peace restore,

Till Revenge, wi' laurel'd head,

Bring our banished hame again;

And ilk loyal, bonie lad

Cross the seas, and win his ain.

Fly that cross proud and high!

I love me some haggis from time to time, but nothing beats a good 'ol Scottish breakfast. Eggs, bacon, square sausages, tomatoes, blood pudding (yum!!!!) and mushrooms all fried together with the bread being fried up last, so as to soak up all the grease.

I am proud of my people.

(perhaps I should have posted this in the food section?)

YUCK! I had to sit across from this bloody greasy feast!

What a nightmare.
