Jaimoe
Sad news. His dedication to Toronto's poor and the arts for that matter are irreplacable. I hope his iconic store doesn't get bulldozed over - rumoured to be true in the inevitability of Ed's death. Great man. Great Canadian.
PassedOutGuy
Very sad news... Ed has deinitely been an icon in the history of Toronto... I hope his family keeps up the business and his traditions... ie turkey giveaways to those in need... he will be missed!
Jaimoe
His son David is more business-minded, but he is also the most important theatre producer in Canada outside of Stratford. I'm not sure what he'll do with the store and the Christmas turkey tradition, but I think it'll keep on going for a number of years.

Jared
I just left his familys home an hour ago. It really is a sad day in toronto. Ed and his famiy have been close friends with my family for a long time. We used to have cottages becide each other and both me and my bother spent summers babysitting his grandchildern and working for David.Ed was like a Grandfather to alot of people, He always had a smile, a good story, and never had anything negative to say. So of my best memories of him will be letting me eat pickles of of the keg in the back of the resturant, and the time he took me to work with him for carear shadowing. It really is a huge loss to the city, and his family.the funeral is on friday
boiler
One less person allowed to walk their sheep across London bridge for free.Seriously, the Arts world has lost one of it's greatest patrons. R.I.P. Honest Ed.
