Blane
just got that too. The drag about some of these green jobs is the friggin' pay. I've seen some great shit in the inbox, moving 1/2 way across the country to work for 26,000 a year in a "management" level job is a bit scarey. Blane
sorry, wasn't referring to this specific ad, there was one for an Environmental Education coordinator that was full time, looking for "long term" staff, work for 26k, 51 weeks per year in rural New Brunswick. I guess you've got to want that lifestyle, that's all.
Ms Zimmy
Or give up most things you dont really need and try to make a difference, if it is in fact the the job of your dreams (I took a pay cut for this job....it wasn't easy)
Blane
Or give up most things you dont really need and try to make a difference, if it is in fact the the job of your dreams (I took a pay cut for this job....it wasn't easy)Sure, the problem is that the "job of your dreams" on paper doesn't always turn out to be the job of your dreams in reality. It can be a hell of a gamble. I'm simply bemoaning the fact that organizations working for social good are so poorly funded. It makes it hard for them to get good people and hang onto them and build strong, sustainable orgs. Where I'm working right now is the same deal. It's a local organization and the top end salary is around 2,000 canadian a month (entry level is about 600 canadian a month), which is actually fairly decent. However a similar post working for any of the international agencies pays 2-4x the salary. So basically they get good people who build up their cv and then leave. There's no way they can compete. No real way out of it unless you find a core of people put working for a local agency ahead of international mobility and pay-scale.
