TheGoodRev
This Saturday night, October 13th, the Pepper Jack Cafe will host a very special concert event as part of the annual C+C Music Festival. The members of Charlemagne, Dan Griffin & The Regrets and The Surly Young Bucks - known locally as bands affiliated with one another, sharing band members between them - will all congregate onstage in a massive nine-person performance of material spanning all three groups' catalogues. This monstrous supergroup will be comprised of:Max Kerman - vocals, guitar, pianoDan Griffin - vocals, guitar, keyboards, drumsMike DeAngelis - vocals, guitar, bassNick Dika - bassAaron Goldstein - vocals, guitar, pedal steel (<-that's me)Adam Melnick - vocals, keyboards, bassDave Griffin - acoustic guitarMike Atcheson - vocals, bass, trumpetTim Oxford - drumsInstrument-switching and microphone-sharing will be prevalent. Expect more than a few surprises and a whole lot of fun. This is, of course, a one-time event and you won't want to miss it! Cover is a scant $5 and you'll also be treated to three other fine acts on this bill: Circuit Breaker, Chris Briscoe and The Feels. The C+C Music Festival was founded in 2006 by staffs of CFMU and C101.5, campus radio stations at McMaster University and Mohawk College, respectively. The festival's goal is to showcase the vast amount of independant musical talent existing in Hamilton by presenting a stellar five-act bill on each of Hamilton's available club stages on one particular night. A two-disc compilation was issued in both 2006 and 2007 in connection with the festival, and the 2006 compilation charted Canada-wide on campus radio. The 2007 compilation is expected to accomplish the same feat once it begins charting and copies will be available free of charge to the first 100 people in the door this Saturday. The compilation features both Charlemagne and Dan Griffin as well as other local favourites Circuit Breaker, Matt Paxton, Wax Mannequin, Joel Elliot, A Northern Chorus, B.A. Johnston, The Rest, Young Rival, the Mississippi Kings and many more.http://www.myspace.com/wearecharlemagnehttp://www.myspace.com/dangriffinmusichttp://www.myspace.com/thesurlyyoungbuckshttp://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=5823779365

TheGoodRev
I'm appalled that two such avid music fans would even have to ask, but, YES: better than Floyd at Ivor Wynne, and both Dead shows, combined. Thank you for playing, Willy and Bones . Think of the value here people! Cover is $5 and there will be 9 musicians onstage! Check out the myspaces above and I bet you'll find music that interests you. On Charlemagne's page I recommend 'Oh The Boss Is Coming', it's a real fist-pumper, great stop-time feel; 'Ballad of Huge Chavez' is a pure sugary Motown tune; 'Champagne Socialist' has a real rootsy kind of feel. http://www.myspace.com/wearecharlemagne On Dan's page I recommend 'Summertime' for its pure Harvest-era Neil Young vibe and 'East Coast' for its sheer catchiness. http://www.myspace.com/dangriffinmusic And on the Bucks page I'm inclined to recommend all four tunes...but 'Word Gets Around' and 'Edmonton' are the two that people seem to like the most. http://www.myspace.com/thesurlyyoungbucks
