TheAlphaNerd
Microsoft has an open beta on their new operating system "Windows 7". Not sure how stable the build is, but some people might be interested in checking it out.http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/default.aspx
bouche
I've been running the beta for about a year or so. It's called Windows Vista.

bouche
honestly, if you look at all the previews of Windows 7, it's frikkin Vista with alot of the features that they couldn't fit in to that last major release.Unfortunately for the PC user, Windows 7 is NOT a MAJOR windows release. It is seriously just a minor update to their OS. Don't believe the hype. I will adopt the final release, but I will NOT go apeshit over Windows 7 as it is just an update to what I am running right now. I will, however, go apeshit with a new mac OS. Basher
If you read the tech blogs you will see how incorrect that assessment is. Windows 7 loses much of the overhead and security stuff that made Vista a huge failure.
bouche
yeah, they added a slider basher. you can wipe out the security stuff in vista too, you just don't have a slider control.
can-o-phish
Pretty lame on Microsoft's part to pull XP off the shelves so buyers have to purchase Vista... If having a functional PC is all you need and don't have to have the pretty buttons and extra crap go with Windows 98-SE or XP...save yourselves the headaches... Or buy a Mac... Dude, honestly, read the blog reports. It is getting rave reviews. It is not like they just added an exclamation mark to the title or anything. bradm
If you install the beta, remember to read the fine print. Aside from the amount of stuff Windows 7 will send back to Microsoft,The software will stop running on August 1, 2009. You may not receive any other notice. You may not be able to access data used with the software when it stops running.Aloha,Brad
bouche
that shouldn't be fine print for a PUBLIC beta.
