Kanada Kev
I had seen the name before but had never heard their material. My buddy Earl emailed me and gave me the heads-up that they were going to be in Toronto soon (he's booked them a couple of times out west and gave them rave reviews). I've been listening to their recent NYE show from Philly while working today. I am really digging it. The experience would be all that much better in a live venue with the light show a blazing! Here's the show if you want it: http://d01.megashares.com/dl/0c52d39/Lotus%20-%202009-12-31%20Philadelphia%20NYE%20(V0).rar Lotus - New Year's Eve Electric Factory Philadelphia, PA 12/31/2009 SET I 01. Kanada Kev
Win free tix: http://www.nowtoronto.com/cgi-bin/EH/EventHandler.cgi?Actn=Entry_Form&Fnm=event512&User_ID=contests WIN a pair of tickets to see LOTUS, February 27 at the Opera House! Never a group to be pigeonholed, Lotus brings many musical weapons to the stage. From festival stages such as Rothbury, Wakarusa, Evolve and Red Rocks to theaters across the country, the band has left grinning crowds dripping with sweat. Equal parts dance and rock, Lotus has been crafting a unique brand of instrumental rock for the past decade. Their latest release Oil on Glass/Feather on Wood "proves that no words are needed to elicit any feelings, the instrumentals alone are enough to connote a myriad of emotions." The dual EPs show the multiple sides of Lotus with Feather on Wood showcasing slow-building guitar driven compositions and Oil on Glass leaning toward harder beats and textures. Like a Lotus show, the two sides work together to form a cohesive whole. The big light show and pounding beats may be club inspired, but the band's ability to connect with the audience through emotive composition and dynamic improvisation pushes performances past the elusive barrier dividing concert and experience. Don't miss Lotus live at The Opera House on Saturday, February 27, 2010. To check out more, click here Deadline for entries is Sunday, January 17 at 11pm. One entry per household.
