PVR question

Big Wooly Mammoth

Recommended Posts

I have been renting a Rogers PVR. just bought a used one and will return the rental. However, there are a bunch of shows that I want to keep. Is there any way I can transfer to a hard drive? I have checked out a bunch of online forums and there seem to be no simple solutions. Rogers sell PVR extenders, which would be a solution, but with an associated cost. I'm wondering if I could buy one of those, transfer everything onto it and then dump it all back onto the new PVR, and then return it to Rogers.

any thoughts, advice???

Do you have an old VCR, or perhaps a DVD player that burns discs as well? If so you could use the "Copy to VCR" option on the PVR.

I attempted one solution for copying from PVR to hard drive, using the firewire port on a MacBook Pro. I was actually able to capture video from the PVR but it was all scrambled. I got frustrated and haven't revisited the project. If anyone has got this working I'd love to hear your story.
