c-towns
So I copied the microsoft office here at work so I could put it on my home computer, all went well until I typed up a report last night at home and brought it to work this morning only to have a bunch of jibberish come up on the screen. I'm running Windows XP at home and here at work its windows 98 would that cause any problems? Is there some kind of update I need to be able to open this and if so where can I get it? thanks in advance

Tungsten Gruvsten
it's probably not windows - it's probably 2 different versions of Word. Find out what each version is and use 'Save As' to save it as an older version or save it as an RTF so it'll open on anything-even macs.... secondtube
long shot but, your win98 was running fat file system, and your xp is running ntfs. i'm pretty sure the files 'may' not work if thats the case.... tungsten?
secondtube
also, try to open the file in notepad, or if its too big, word pad. see if u can just grab the txt, copy it, and paste it into your current working Word program...
Tungsten Gruvsten
nah the fat32/ntfs only masters for the physical hard drive....i'd say export it as Rich Text Format (RTF) and import it as the same...all pagination shit will still be there...
