Velvet
Dan Gardner did a ten-part series in The Ottawa Citizen about two years ago. Best writing/research on the topic I've seen.
tatterdemalion
i offered some help for these folks a while back: www.mpp.org lester grinspoon is a leading authority on the subject. he's got a few books you might wanna look at. i've got many books here in my apt, but they're largely scientific. not sure if that's what you're looking for. another decent link: http://bob.nap.edu/books/0309071550/html/ you probably already know of sites like erowid, but i'm not so sure of their utility for your paper. i did some work for maps.org too, not sure what they have on their site these days though. hit me up off-list if you're interested in more - i'll also get a better idea of what kinds of resources you're looking for. TonyRage
Hey, There have been a few lawsuits against the goverment for their failure to provide mm. The court records should be a matter of public record. I believe the Toronto Compassion Club was the complainant in a successful civil suit against the federal government. There is also the matter of the criminal charges against Maurice (or Mark) St Bruno in Quebec who was cleared of charges relating to dealing (mm only) with the defence that he was upholding the law because the goverment had failed to provide mm. I don't know how to get these records but they may be useful.

tatterdemalion
one more good one that i just thought of Megs: "The Science of Marijuana" - Leslie Iversen. great book, i just wish my friend would return it to me now after about a 3-year loan ! it's a pretty honest book, not "taking sides" and basically offering the facts that exist. also do a literature search on the various scientific databases (ie. Medline, Embase, etc) to find studies/clinical trials that have evaluated its use in therapy. a doc out in SF has done quite a bit of work on it, particularly with respect to its use in AIDS/HIV (cachexia, antiemesis, etc), but i think he might have also done some stuff on pain/neuropathy too. don abrams is his name. look him up. sorry for the multiple posts, i just keep remembering more suggestions every now and then. Magnolia
http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=18010 alternet.org usually has stories that aren't found in 'regular' newpapers and stuff. You might be able to find more on that site. Hope that helps!
