Tungsten Gruvsten
wow my favourite trucking song ever. The marching drums, choruses, christ there's some dude screaming in the background of the last verse...it's just bizarre. I love it! My dad used to have it on cassette when I was a kid and I loved it then(that and Rhinestone Cowboy...) and I rediscovered it one tripped out night in my teens... What a lyric: "Well we shot the line, an' we went for broke With a thousand screamin' trucks And eleven long-haired friends of Jesus In a chartreusse microbus"
\/\/illy
Damn, you beat me to the punch! I had just finished looking up "chartreusse" and I was going to post that I would take care of the "eleven long-haired friends of Jesus" in the microbus. It's blue though! PS: I love the Rhinestone Cowboy too!

bradm
quote:Originally posted by Tungsten Gruvsten: wow my favourite trucking song ever. Back in the early '80s, my Dad bought a CB radio for the car. We got it at Radio Shack, and it included a promo record (LP) of trucking's greatest hits (or somesuch). "Convoy" was on it, as was "Tombstone Every Mile", "Teddy Bear", and my favourite, "I'm A Truck". Yup, a truckin' song, sung from the truck's perspective: There wouldn't be no truckers If it wasn't for us trucks No double-clutchin', gear-jammin' Coffee-drinkin' nuts They'll drive their way to glory And they have all the luck But there wouldn't be no truckers If it wasn't for us trucks Aloha, Brad
Tungsten Gruvsten
schweet. I'm a sucker for truck driving songs-one of the first things i did when i got my first CD burner was take any old 8-tracks and cassettes with trucking songs on them and rip them into the computer, clean them up and make a truck driving greatest hits....i still listen to it every now and then! \/\/illy
Hey Jared, I've got a jazz blue 1980 Westfalia named "Jazzy". What about yourself? I just had her oil changed today so she's primed to go. I'll be interested to see how she runs: I decided to make the change to synthetic oil for the first time. \/\/illy
A '71 eh? Sounds very nice. Where abouts where you parted? Were you in the far field against the tree line per chance? I saw a really nice old Westy back there. I was walking over to take a look but realized that people were crashed in it and I didn't want to disturb them.
