Of course you were wondering.

Epic bed-shitting by the Flyers yesterday. I still hope that they knock out Pity City in five games.

25 games for Torres seems to be an over reaction of epic proportions. I mean, when the previously highest suspension this playoff is 5 games, 25 seems to be on the extreme end of the scale. Shanahan is a joke.

If they truly want to get this crap out of the game this is the kind of suspension that should have been handed out all along. I have no problem with it and we will see how serious the league is when a star player is the one who delivers a hit like this.

Totally appropriate suspension.

I wouldn't put all the heat on Shanahan though. It's Bettman and the owners who really decide what goes down. Fact is that ratings are UP. They don't want their "stars" to be suspended during this part of the season. This is not a court of law in a balanced judicial system. Precedent can be thrown out the window at any given time based on the criteria they use to "explain" their suspensions/non-suspensions.

What has gone on in this first round is continually called "old-time hockey" and it's not. It's today's hockey and is being played within the limits that are set out by the league and the level of refereeing that enforces those boundaries. If there is something that needs to be fixed, they need to address it. If something they thought would work isn't, then do something about it. Seems they do this to one level in the regular season and then shit the bed in the playoffs.

Ollie, i totally agree that the inconsistency in controlling/policing this is frustrating. badams, i totally agree and can't wait to see what happens when a "star" player does this and how punishment is delivered by the league. Low Roller, I think Fleury must have had some vaginoplasty or something 'cause that 5-hole got a bit tight compared to Jenna's ;)

Looking forward to a fun afternoon of hockey now :)

ps - congrats to the Sens for capping another win against the #1 seed. Makes me puke in my mouth a little, but it's hard not to smile when a complete underdog cause grief to a #1 team in playoffs. They still are your team Ottawa, not Canada's :P

Fleury opened the gaps again and the Flyers win the series! Thank God I no longer have to watch Crosby play during these playoffs.
