  1. As far as best, I really enjoyed 07-17-01.

Ratdog opener and then Phil and Friends. My vantage point couldn't have been better for one thing. Standing in front row, watching Bobby, Phil, and his quintet was a night to remember.

The 2 previous shows were killer too, but the Ratdog thing helped push it over the edge.

Worst show? Has to be "Dude Where's My Car?".

Well, actually, that's the worst movie category, but I don't have any memory of any bad shows. Could be because if I was at a bad show, I'd probably not be paying attention to the band and I'd be spending my attention on the booze.

  2. The plane behind it saw the engine smoking, and it then fell off. They also said that planes are designed to loose an engine in flight if they need to. However, at this point, they were at max power, and that is the worst time for

    engine failure.

They just showed an engine on the ground on BBC.

  3. About a year ago, I emailed him concerning a video tape that he was offering up. It was a video of him on the further bus, and all the merry pranksters travelling around. The video itself wasn't terribly interesting, however, he sent it for free, and they painted and labelled the VHS cover by hand with paint, etc.

It was probably the coolest thing I've seen. They wanted their Intrepid Trips video distributed, so the made the tapes, and each unique cover by hand, and mailed them out for FREE to whoever emailed them expressing an interest.

It was up to you to send in money after you received it to help support their efforts. I think I sent them $20 US.

  4. That is controlled via electromagnetic fields eh?

So, he'd have to have all the shit installed at various antlers? He had his hand's "controlling" different points on the antlers. It's possible that the deer was a freak of nature, and when Trey hit it with his Chevy Truck, he noticed that it had some little antennas embedded within it's protrusions, however, unlikely.

Here's a little Theremin movie of Leon Theremin demonstrating his original device. I want one.

  5. I noticed trey, at the beginning of Radon Balloon, had a little violet laser device and was moving it over his strings. Did that have something to do with tuning, or was it some wierd and wacky thing that helped create some of the mellow noises at the beginning of that tune?

anyone know what I'm talking about

  6. That was indeed an amazing evening. I'm certainly glad that we stayed at the Library pub until 8:40. It was nice to get a couple more drinks in rather than ruining my dinner.

I had a great time. I would like to see more Oysterhead as it was very hard to take in all 3 members properly. I am not satisfied. I need more. Trey is so fantastic to watch in such close proximity.

    a few items to mention...

    - a note was "played" in Mr. Oysterhead that was a really low frequency bass note of a chord. It was too low to actually hear, but it could be felt, and that was a very strange feeling.

    - Birthday Boys is a great tune, and I was so glad when I saw Trey grab his acoustic, and it was great that the used that tune to fuck around.

Mufaraw Joe references were great. I was very uneasy about the crowd's attempt to be part of the band with all the clapping. Trey appeared to me to not want to continue with that, and laughed. That's when he called on Les to wreak havoc with his banjo bass. I think that he was pointing that the clappers were a bunch of Stompin Tom sympathizers.

    - I took about a dozen or so shots up at the front. a security guy poked me and said that it wasn't allowed. I got greedy when the lights went really bright and took some more. That's when the asshole came over. I had to delete them all. bummer.

    - the lights were incredible. It was like watching a 3D canvas. What a beautiful place to have phish's lightshow. At one point, some colorful streams were desending downward along either side of the theatre, and I felt like I was standing on a well lit escalator.

Les: "All the world's a stage was recorded here!"

Dude in the audience: Yahooo! WOOOHOOO!!

    Rest of audience: silence

Dude in the audience: Fuckin' Phish heads! you don't know anything. Go back to your flakey Phishbowl!

    Trey: You said it Jaimoe!

I heard that Trey actually sang to Passed out guy. Lucky guy.

  7. Hi Scottie!

You are so accurate describing how incredible it is to meet people that you've only chatted and interracted electronically with.

There is an overwhelming amount of people that need to be brought together and this is definately a successful way.

There are many things I wouldn't have heard about if it wasn't for this incredible group of people sharing their interests, common or not, with each other.

I like your permanent rotation device. You have got me thinking that there should be a spot on this site for that sort of advice.

BTW, I heard a track off of that rheostatics on Queen's radio today as I drove through Kingston. I thought that it might be something to look for. I guess they just played in Kingston the other night.

Which reminds me...the movie Whale Music, featuring the rheostatics is fantastic.

    keep up the happy vibes
