How was the DD show in Hamilton last night? I meant to go, but came home from the Hamilton Bulldogs game to 8 inches of water flooding my basement...

Funny tidbit - I interviewed David Nelson today to preview the Hamilton show and he asked me "Is this for jambands.ca?"

Are you doing the Ottawa Xpress article? I could give you more info than you could ever need, but it might be a conflict of interest (I work with them, their new album is on Sonic Unyon, where I work). The Rheostatics loved them, and had them open up a whole week of shows for them at the Ultrasound Show Bar in Toronto back in like 1994, before their first album was out. Dave Bidini claims that the Rolling Stones came to one of the shows they played together there (at a different time) but when Bidini outed Jagger for being there, the band got up and left. The Wooden Stars' Josh Latour accepted their 2000 Juno Award. Since he was the only band member living in Toronto he went and accepted it - and was shocked to accept it. The favourites to win that year were Thrush Hermit and Danko Jones, so when Julie and the W Stars won it was a big surprise. I was there, since we had 3 bands nominated for that award (Julie/Wooden Stars, Thrush Hermit and Tricky Woo) but I don't remember Josh telling a joke and neither does my wife. Their drummer, Andrew McCormack, also drums in Howe Gelb's band. He replaced Jeremy Gara when he got too busy with the Arcade Fire.

For clarification: the VIEW article says the band is a quartet and doesn't mention Dale, but he is in the photo. I didn't know he was in the band again until after I had to file the story, so my apologies to him.

Tickets for London appear to be sold out on the website. Not sure what that means for outside. I'm looking forward to it, but don't like Megadeth at all.

Anyone on here going to see the Dio-era BLACK SABBATH tomorrow night in London? They are playing the John Labatt Centre under the name "HEAVEN & HELL"

Well, 76 was never a favourite year for me but 77 - that's another story!!!

I didn't do that, no. I didn't think I should identify myself as a journalist, since I purchased it (just like I do all Dead-related stuff). Maybe I should send a follow-up letter in a few days that I am going to write an article about it if I don't hear back?

I wrote a pretty nasty letter to GD customer service and to Rhino. Dunno if anyone will read it, but this is the second Rhino GD release I've had trouble with - and I've never had a problem with any of the other 3000 or so CDs and LPs I have purchased in my life

Anyone else get their Grateful Dead Cow Palace NYE 76 3-CD set only to find out that they had 2 copies of disc 1 and no disc 2? After I found it out, I took it back to the store I bought it at and they had to open another 3 copies before we found one with a disc 2 in it. WTF???
