  1. This info was posted yesterday on Hidden Track. I'm sure the Toronto date will be part of this tour: http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddentrack/the-return-of-the-mike-gordon-band/ The Return of the Mike Gordon Band If you’ve read any of the interviews Mike Gordon has done since Phish got back together you won’t be surprised to see that he’ll be touring again with his solo band. There are many Phish fans, myself included, who feel last year’s The Green Sparrow was the best solo release by any member of the band since Trey Anastasio’s self-titled effort in 2002. Gordon made it clear the return of Phish didn’t mean the end of of his solo band and he’s putting his money where his mouth is by scheduling a September tour of small clubs. According to Jambands.com, Cactus recently returned to the studio to work on his next solo album so we’d expect to hear some new tunes at these upcoming shows. The one-of-a-kind bass player rekindled his bromance with Mike Gordon Band guitarist and HT favorite Scott Murawski on his birthday, June 3, where the two teamed up with Billy Kreutzmann of The Dead and others for a special performance at City Winery. Four dates from the tour have leaked so far: September 8th at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY; September 10th at the Port City Music Hall in Portland, ME; September 19th at the Workplay theatre in Birmingham, AL and September 21st at Minglewood Hall in Memphis, TN. Clearly we’re approaching the announcement of the entire tour so keep your eyes peeled on this space as we’ll be updating this post as soon as we know more. If Mike comes to your town or city will you check out his solo band? Let us know what you think about this tour by leaving a comment below. Meanwhile, where’s the Andelman’s Yard scavenger hunt?

  4. This guy is a riot!!! He really nails it: Batting Stance Guy (AKA Gar Ryness) Performs On Letterman Gar Ryness never thought he'd be famous. In fact, he started his interview on the "Late Show" last night by saying he has "the least markatable skill in America." Yet here he is, showing his unique set of skills off for America. Ryness, also known as the Batting Stance Guy, can imitate any batter in the history of baseball and give his audience (which usually consists of avid YouTube subscribers) an hilarious and insightful look at how major league players bat. Last night Ryness did impressions of Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Cal Ripken, Rickey Henderson, Derek Jeter, and more. Watch!
  5. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=284749 NHL RELEASES SCHEDULE; CANADIENS, LEAFS MEET OPENING NIGHT The home of the Boston Red Sox will finally host a National Hockey League game. The NHL announced on Wednesday that the 2009-2010 regular season schedule would be highlighted by a matchup at Boston's Fenway Park between the Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers on Jan. 1. "A unique event deserves a unique venue, and we are delighted the Bruins and Flyers will renew their rivalry with the 'Green Monster' providing the backdrop," NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said. "We welcome our fans, our teams, our sponsors and the great city of Boston to this annual celebration of our sport." In what has recently become an annual event, the 2010 Winter Classic game marks the fourth time in five seasons that a regular season game has taken place in an outdoor venue. The idea for a winter game began with the Heritage Classic in November 2003, when the Montreal Canadiens beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 at Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium. The first branded Winter Classic was held New Year's Day in 2008, at Buffalo's Ralph Wilson Stadium, where the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 in a shootout in front of more than 71,000 fans. Last January, the Detroit Red Wings beat the Chicago Blackhawks 6-4 at Wrigley Field. The regular season gets underway on October 1 and four of Canada's six teams will be in action. The Original Six rivalry of two new-look teams helps open the season when the Toronto Maple Leafs play host to the Montreal Canadiens. Later on that night, the Flames and their improved defence that includes Jay Bouwmeester will play host to goaltender Roberto Luongo and the Vancouver Canucks. Joe Sakic's number will also be retired by the Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi Center that evening. On October 3, Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins will be in Long Island where John Tavares should be making his home debut with the Islanders. The Battle of Alberta also begins that night, with the Edmonton Oilers playing host to the Flames. The Bruins will play the Canadiens in Montreal on December 4, which is their 100th birthday. Because of the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, the Canucks will be starting a team record 14-game road trip that begins on January 30 in Toronto. The NHL will suspend play during the games, meaning a layoff from February 15 until March 1. The final game of the regular season will be played on Sunday, April 11.

  10. So we just finished watching the entire 18 episodes of Freaks & Geeks last week. HOLY FUCK what a great show that was. I agree Al, totally takes me back to those days and so many memories. The characters and writing were so good. I was really sad to see it end. However, that last episode was just brilliant. The discovery of American Beauty and the description of why a Grateful Dead show is so special were perfect! Back to Battlestar Galactica Season 3 now
  11. Gonna be a killer show. Can't wait. Only a week away now
  12. Great venue on a perfect day today! There aren't any bars in the immediate area. It's right in the middle of a residential neighbourhood. We found parking at a school only 2 blocks away. They were raising money for the kids there by allowing parking. I'm tempted to head on over for this. However, after watching most of Ratdog's set from Allgood on Friday night I gotta say that I'll save my Rochester trip until next month for FREE Gov't Mule
