  1. LOVED Curb this year. We watched the finale last night and were howling. Love how they ended it the exact same way as last season but with another locale. Then to hear him start to rant at the shitty car-parker in Paris. Your kid is gay, Hitler moustache, car-seat dildo, shush, was that the Parkinsons, take a bullet, swastika throw pillow, etc. etc. all in one episode! One of the secrets to these great cable shows is their limited number of episodes per season. More effort into the writing and more cash per episode for production. Is Curb coming back again? Or was that the season series finale?

  4. ... and the final four nights of this glorious/epic tour in Jolly Old London: http://bit.ly/q1XNjU Grateful Dead - Europe ‘72: The Complete Recordings 1972-05-23 (Tue) Strand Lyceum, London, UK The band began its final run of shows on the tour in London with a bang, sharing stage with opening act and good friends the New Riders of the Purple Sage. Just like the previous show in Munich, this show’s big second set highlight was a “Dark Star>Morning Dew.†This, of course, is the less-famous London Dew, after the magnificent version played on 5/26 and included on the Europe ‘72 album. The show also featured the first version by the Grateful Dead of “Rockin’ Pneumonia†and the “Boogie Woogie Flu.†mp3@v0 Track List CD 1 of 3 Promised Land Sugaree Mr. Charlie Black Throated Wind Tennessee Jed Next Time You See Me Jack Straw China Cat Sunflower I Know You Rider Me & My Uncle Chinatown Shuffle Big Railroad Blues Two Souls In Communion Playing in the Band CD 2 of 3 Top Of The World Rockin Pneumonia Mexicali Blues Good Lovin’ Casey Jones Ramble On Rose Dark Star Morning Dew CD 3 of 3 He’s Gone Sugar Magnolia Comes A Time Goin’ Down the Road Feeling Bad Not Fade Away Hey Bo Diddley Not Fade Away Uncle John’s Band http://bit.ly/q1XNjU ================================================= http://bit.ly/ogxP2t Grateful Dead - Europe ‘72: The Complete Recordings 1972-05-24 (Wed) Strand Lyceum, London, UK In typical Europe ‘72 fashion, if it was “Dark Star†one night, it was “The Other One†the next (usually…see previous show). And this “Other One†is up with the best of the tour. As much the band could be forgiven for being exhausted and ready to go home, they brought their A-game and played what many consider to be one of the top two or three shows on the tour. A 19 song first set (!) ends with the usual second set closer “Not Fade Away>GDTRFB>Not Fade Away,†and the set also included a 17 minute “Playing In The Band,†the show at which “Playing†became the 17-25 minute jam vehicle it would be for the rest of 1972 through 1974. The second, set, though, is so good that it was immortalized on Side 5 and Side 6 of the Europe ‘72 album. What that album is missing from this jam, though, is a terrific “Other One†around the “Morning Dew,†and the finest (and totally appropriate) “Sing Me Back Home†of the tour. mp3@v0 Track List CD 1 of 4 Promised Land Sugaree Mr. Charlie Black Throated Wind Loser Next Time You See Me El Paso Dire Wolf Two Souls In Communion Playing in the Band CD 2 of 4 He’s Gone Cumberland Blues Jack Straw Chinatown Shuffle China Cat Sunflower I Know You Rider Not Fade Away Goin’ Down the Road Feeling Bad Not Fade Away CD 3 of 4 Truckin’ The Other One Morning Dew The Other One Sing Me Back Home CD 4 of 4 Me and My Uncle Ramble On Rose Sugar Magnolia Casey Jones One More Saturday Night http://bit.ly/nm7IIo

  9. http://bit.ly/nT0gWM Umphrey’s McGee - Death By Stereo Chicago-based Umphrey’s McGee returns this fall with a new studio album, Death By Stereo, available on 9/13 via ATO Records. Over the past 13 years, the group has built a rabid fan base through endless touring and more than 120 shows a year. They have released 11 albums, nearly every live show for 6+ years and sold more than 1.5 million digital tracks. Death By Stereo is the much-anticipated followup album to their critically-acclaimed 2009 studio release Mantis, which was praised in top outlets like Rolling Stone, The New York Times and The Washington Post. Mantis included a groundbreaking pre-order campaign, which sold over 8000 units in the first week and debuted at #62 on the Billboard chart. Death By Stereo is a hybrid of what makes Umphrey’s McGee so appealing to a wide spectrum of music fans. Filled with a healthy combination of focused, hard-hitting rock songs & head bobbing, groove-driven tracks, the record has something for everybody. The new album features a smattering of road-tested fan favorites as well as some of the slickest, unreleased compositions the band has released to date. Umphrey’s McGee’s constantly evolving sound channels a wide spectrum of influences while still preselVing their distinct voice through crafty songwriting. With a massive repertoire of originals and note-perlect covers, their live shows are like flipping through the presets on your radio dial. Their A.DD. approach to â€progressive improvisation†utilizes a set of Zappa-inspired hand signals allowing them to orchestrate their melodic creations on the fly. - amazon.com mp3@320 Track List Miami Virtue (3:48) Domino Theory (3:47) Search 4 (6:17) Booth Love (3:37) The Floor (5:28) Wellwishers (4:46) Dim Sun (1:50) Conduit (4:11) Deeper (3:50) Hajimemashite (3:46) http://bit.ly/nT0gWM

  20. Getting stoked for the Massey shows!!! Finally ... here's a 320 version that sounds infinitely better then the stream rips. http://bit.ly/qzICBM Wilco - The Whole Love The Whole Love is Wilco’s finest effort in some time. While the previous two albums did range from good-to-great they didn’t quite pack the punch that made albums like Summerteeth, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, and even A Ghost is Born so memorable. The Whole Love finds them returning to some of their roots and blowing them wide open while expanding (quite well) on the formulas they’ve been experimenting with both in the past couple of years and for their entire career. This is as strong of an album as you’re likely to hear all year with virtually no weak cuts, an excellent sense of pace, and- above all else- extremely good (and memorable) songs. Pre-order it or purchase it when you can. Wilco’s got themselves another very solid contender for Album of the Year. mp3@320 Track List 1. Art of Almost 2. I Might 3. Sunloathe 4. Dawned On Me 5. 22. Enjoyed watching today's Google Doodle in honour of Freddy Mercury's bday: The latest Google Doodle, which went live for some on September 4, pays tribute to Freddie Mercury, who would have celebrated his 65th birthday on September 5. In June, Google wowed the web with their interactive tribute to master guitarist Les Paul and inspired countless Google guitar tutorials. This time around, they've honored the rock band Queen's lead vocalist, who battled HIV for years before dying on November 24th, 1991 at the age of 45. A video, which appears over the Google logo, features an animated tribute to Mercury, highlighting Queen's 1978 hit "Don't Stop Me Now." Queen guitarist and songwriter Brian May wrote a post about Freddie Mercury for the Google Blog. From May's post: "Freddie would have been 65 this year, and even though physically he is not here, his presence seems more potent than ever. Freddie made the last person at the back of the furthest stand in a stadium feel that he was connected. He gave people proof that a man could achieve his dreams—made them feel that through him they were overcoming their own shyness, and becoming the powerful figure of their ambitions. And he lived life to the full. He devoured life. He celebrated every minute. And, like a great comet, he left a luminous trail which will sparkle for many a generation to come." The song lyrics featured in the Google Doodle seem to echo May's thoughts: "I'm a shooting star leaping through the sky/Like a tiger defying the laws of gravity/I'm a racing car passing by like Lady Godiva/I'm gonna go go go there's no stopping me"
