  1. HIGHLY underrated musician and component of LZ. 20 million people scrambling to get tickets to see him play with Led Zeppelin? Sounds like he's not underrated anymore. LOL ... i don't think teh 20million were just for him, but I do hope that he gets some more attention as being as much a contributor to the LZ sound as the other 3. He's kind of like the George Harrison of Zep

  3. Being there is hugely important, for me at least. To view a performer mastering their instrument is amazing. The synergy with a crowd! Feeling the music hit not only your eardrums, but your body. I'm referring more to the look as simply a 'fashion' or the likes. For some people seeing an Eddie Van Halen shred without long hair 'lessens' the performance. I think that's ridiculous and shows how that person is not as connected to the musical side of the act. All I'm saying is that while some acts utilize image as an important factor at gaining early success, really great music can survive on it's own. There are always exceptions. Often the visual is a integral part of the art and truly enhances the experience (eg. Gabriel-era Genesis) but that's not to say that the music can't be performed without it and not have integrity. The Ocean sounds FANTASTIC on The Song Remains The Same. Getting to see it is a bonus, but some might argue that it can also be a distraction. Being there would have been a trip. I often close my eyes at concerts for segments and it's incredible how much more you can HEAR. Seriously, give it a try.
  4. There is WAY too much emphasis based on image. So, you can have a player that can rock out harder than most youth in a guy like Neil. There are plenty of other "older" musicians who still have their chops. On one hand, people will give Neil credit where it's due, but lambaste another musician simply because they've put on a few pounds or lost some hair. I wish that there were some bands that would perform behind a friggin wall on stage so that it forced people to LISTEN to what they are playing. This would filter out a ton of the crap that is being sold and push a lot of the cream to the top. However, the public LOVE a lot of the crap. As fans of music should we not be focussing on the MUSIC. Who cares what the performer looks like. Damn, there are so many great acts from the past that would never have made it in the industry during the past few decades simply because they weren't pretty. If 'look' matters that much for a performance to determine whether you go or not, maybe one should question why they are going in the first place. Everyone has their own reasons, and those are valid to them. Personally, I can't understand why people would spend money to go and see some bands, and I know some people can't understand why I go and see some of the bands I do. I remember for YEARS how people would mock the Grateful Dead ... did it really matter what they 'looked' like? If they sounded like shit it wasn't because Jerry wasn't wearing black sweat pants, or because Bobby was playing a pink guitar
  5. Leafs kicked-ass last night! That second period flurry of goals was unbelievable. A lot of really nice goals too. They shut down the Bolts and had them running. Pretty impressive to keep Lecavalier off the scoreboard these days. Seven game road trip coming up. Should be a good test.
  6. Supposedly the O2 arena is notoriously brutal for sound. The only gig there that has sounded decent was an Elton John show. Reportedly they had contacted their sound people to get some tips. I'm sure things would be totally different if a show was ONLY them and they had the PA tuned only for Zep. Glad you made it to the show. You are def one of the lucky FEW!
  7. A little bit of detail on the show from NME http://www.nme.com/news/led-zeppelin/33075 'Good Times Bad Times' "The set started with a clip from 'The Song Remains The Same' DVD with an American news clip telling of they broke The Beatles' attendance record for a gig in 1973 in California. Simple stage set, video screen behind the band." 'Ramble On' "'Ramble On' done in extremely slow, bluesy manner, with shards of electric guitar from Jimmy Page." 'Black Dog' "Page wearing dark shades, quite muddy sound. Crowd singing the 'ah-ah' bits back at Plant." 'In My Time Of Dying' "Page is playing bottleneck guitar. Plant spoke for the first time before song, saying 'Good evening'." 'For Your Life' "That's not something you get to hear often these days, Led Zeppelin giving a song its live debut." 'Trampled Under Foot' "Before starting Plant told the crowd it was the band's attempt to sound like Robert Johnson's 'Terraplane Blues'." 'Nobody's Fault But Mine' "There are huge screen's dominating the O2 Arena, they split into four sometimes, goes monochrome, colour etc...quite spectacular." 'No Quarter' "Following the song Plant paid tribute to John Paul Jones, who played keyboards and bass on the track." 'Since I've Been Loving You' "A bit of a style guide for you, all the band are dressed in black bar Page who is rocking a white shirt. As for the song they gone for the epic version....very bluesy." 'Dazed And Confused' "Settle yourselves in, we're expecting a ten minute version of this classic... it was. At the end of it of the song Plant told the audience 'On guitar Jimmy Page, just as he did on 'The Song Remains The Same' DVD which was filmed in Madison Square Garden in the 70s." 'Stairway To Heaven' "What do you think happened? Right! From the moment those opening notes rang out the whole audience went absolutely crazy. The atmosphere is electric. Afterwards Plant said "Ahmet, we did it!" 'The Song Remains The Same' "A fairly straight version of the classic. The sound is still a bit muddy and quiet though." 'Misty Mountain Hop' "Plant kicked this one off by praising the job drummer Jason Bonham has been doing, stepping into his late father's shoes tonight." 'Kashmir' "Yet another epic, as this song cracks the ten minute mark. Plant introduced this one declaring 'We've got people from 50 countries here and this is the 51st'. Afterwards they left the stage to loud applause. Will they do an encore? What do you reckon..." 'Whole Lotta Love' "... of course they come back to deafening applause. And it's an extended version of the old 'Top Of The Pops' theme. Then once more the band leave the stage with a visibly emotional Plant declaring: 'Thanks to everybody. Thanks Ahmet Ertegun, this one for is Ahmet Ertegun as we remember the days when Atlantic Records was the best label on the planet!'." 'Rock And Roll' "Just time for one more, as after two hours the night reaches its climax, and what a stomper to go out on. And after the hype, the millions of people who entered the ticket ballot and the speculation, Led Zeppelin's reunion show is over. A one off? We dearly hope not."
  8. Damn ... i hated that shit disturber. What is it about hockey players who insist on wearing turtle neck shirts??? Hextall ... Yashin ... Glad they're gone

    yayyyyyy God

It was the first half of the show that really laid out the framework of his "discoveries" and questions about the "proofs" of a Jesus of Nazareth. A great deal of detail was given showing the uncanny similarities of the Jesus story to that of the ancient pagan mystic religions/cults. I thought it would be funny if every once and a while they inserted the audio from Jean Chretien saying "A proof is a proof. What kind of a proof? It's a proof. A proof is a proof. And when you have a good proof, it's because it's proven."

Did anyone else watch this? It was really quite interesting and I thought really should have been twice the length to flesh out the ideas a little more. A 'town hall' kind of discussion after with members of different faiths would have been informative as well. Blind Faith ... really at the root of so much.
  14. I don't think Living Loving Maid was ever performed live, and of course a lot of the material of In Through The Out Door.
