  1. LeafTV game = didn't watch, won't pay Another game blown in the dying seconds ... well, they didn't even get the point for the tie in regulation time
  2. I'm frickin' thirsty now! 94%DRUNKARD Looking for payday loans?
  3. LOL .. you meant the 10% right? I remember the original when it was on the radio. Never knew much about the original artist. I agree with Jamoie that it does sound very similar to the original, but I really like Eddie's voice on it. So, not really a radical new arrangement, but it is very pleasing and an almost hypnotic song. I did that album. Now i just have to catch the film some time.
  4. I bet he'll be like McSorely and will simply no return. They should do what that county in the southern States did. When he comes back to play he HAS to wear a bright pink uniform whenever he's on the ice.
  5. You gotta check out the guitar solo in Black Napkins!!! http://concerts.wolfgangsvault.com/dt/frank-zappa-concert/20051493-2431.html Frank Zappa Palladium New York, NY 10/31/1977 Tracks: 11 Total Time: 47:11 Frank Zappa - vocals, guitars Adrian Belew - guitar, vocals Terry Bozzio - drums, vocals Patrick O’Hearn - bass, vocals Peter Wolf - keyboards, vocals Ed Mann - percussion Recorded at the very first of his famed Halloween shows from New York’s Palladium Theater (a yearly ritual for Zappa until he stopped performing), this performance demonstrates just how important Frank Zappa had become as one of rock’s most enduring innovators. It also demonstrates Zappa’s kooky and sardonic sense of humor. After introducing his band, and telling the audience that the show was being recorded, they launch into “San Ber’Dino,†a song about a modern rodeo cowboy who falls on hard times. Singing lines like: “There’s 41 men and only one shower in tank C, but it doesn’t apply to Bobby…,†it is clear that Frank Zappa knew how to make great music and had fun doing it. Recorded while promoting his Zoot Allures album, Zappa had taken to the road with a band that can only be regarded as an all-star line up. Nearly every musician who had a tenure with Zappa went on to remarkable musical careers, and these men are no exception. Guitarist Adrian Belew would join Talking Heads, King Crimson, and eventually launched a successful solo career. Bassist Patrick O’Hearn and drummer Terry Bozzio would later spearhead the alternative act, Missing Persons, with wife Dale; and keyboardist Peter Wolf (not the J. Geils Band vocalist) eventually became one of the most successful producers of the 1980s, scoring chart hits for Starship, Lou Gramm, Big Country, and many others. Zappa is eager to show off the excellent musicianship of the band, allowing each person to excel and letting several different players share the lead vocals. On “City of Tiny Lites,†he showcases Bozzio and Wolf, whose fills and runs provide an appropriate backdrop to Zappa and Belew’s sweet guitar licks. Like a great stand-up comedian, Zappa could take very normal, mundane situations and turn them into theater of the absurd. Zappa lets loose on the instrumental showcase, “The Squirm†delivering a memorable guitar solo intro behind the organ chords of Peter Wolf. Then things get fun again, with “Big Leg Emma,†another brilliant parody. In it, Zappa sings: “There’s a big dilemma about my Big Leg Emma. She was my stand-in date, until she started gaining weight…†Zappa sings, leading the crowd directly into “Audience Participation Time“ where Zappa, in his best game-show host voice, plucks a young girl from the audience and totally embarrasses her. “Janet, standing here,†he says in his host voice, “is going to deliver some discipline to another audience member.†Next up is “The Black Page #2,†one of the most progressive pieces played during the show, with intricate time signatures throughout. Of course, Zappa encourages the audience to dance, which is like asking someone to dance to the Mahavishnu Orchestra. “Jones Crusher,†a sped-up boogie song about a lady whose womanly muscle control Zappa compares to a vice grip. And on and on. Having passed away from prostate cancer nearly fifteen years ago, some have forgotten how incredible he was as a performer. With recordings like this, however, the legacy of Frank Zappa will endure for decades to come. His son’s tribute show, Zappa Plays Zappa (featuring Bozzio and many other ex-Zappa alumni) is among the best-selling touring shows currently on the concert circuit.
  6. Musician seems to be making it back, recovering, from a nasty disease. Getting some great healing from the crowd and love. Yup, "whoopdeefuckingdo" is the first thing that I think of. Why don't you forgo the juvenile comments and go back to listening to your Nickelback cds there zero. http://jambands.ca/sanctuary/showpost.php?post/457420/
  7. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ n i c e Thansk for that
  8. That was the most unbelievable fuckup with only 90seconds left in a shutout game! They should feel lucky to be walking out of there with one point. Refs were fuckups with the penalty calls/noncalls going both ways too.
  9. Damn, i DID see it. I've just forgotten the details. I do remember REALLY enjoying it though and thinking it was the best one so far too. I've been digging a lot of the stuff leaking out about this release too. Seen the new posters? Jack may be pissed that they didn't ask him back for the role, but i think that would have ruined it.
  10. We got this at CBC today: To all English Services staff: The following is for your information. This is also being distributed via iNEWS. Please pass this to your colleagues who are not on our electronic messaging services. ________________________________________________________________________ December 18, 2007 CBC mourns legendary sports broadcaster Don Chevrier I am saddened to inform you that former CBC Sports broadcaster Don Chevrier has died. He was 69. Well known as the original television voice of the Toronto Blue Jays, “Chevy,†as he was known to fans and colleagues alike, made an enormous contribution to CBC Sports. He called his first Grey Cup Championship game for CBC in 1969 and would go on to call eight more; from 1972 to 1981, he was co-host of CBC-TV's Curling Classic program on Saturday afternoons; he also worked on the CBC Radio broadcast for the famous Muhammad Ali-George Chuvalo fight in Toronto in 1966. In addition to his work with CBC, Don called CFL football games in the 1970s for CTV, and in 1977 he began his work as the voice of the Toronto Blue Jays, an association that would last 20 years. Don was also a contributor to ABC's popular Wide World of Sports program throughout the 1980s, primarily covering boxing. And along with longtime partner Don Duguid, Don called curling at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and 2006 Winter Games in Turin, Italy, for NBC. Along with his unique voice, Don was known for his amazing versatility. During his career, he won two Nellie Awards, in the United States, as national sportscaster of the year, and in 2004 Sports Media Canada honoured him with their annual Achievement Award. I worked with Don on the 1991 Canada Cup of Hockey for CTV. He was a consummate pro, and one of the great storytellers in our industry. Don was in Toronto just last month for the Grey Cup game. While in town, he attended our dinner celebrating the launch of the CBC Sports Hall of Fame and was interviewed in our feature showcasing memorable Grey Cup moments. Please join me in remembering a legendary sports broadcaster--Don Chevrier. He will be missed. Scott Moore Executive Director CBC Sports

  12. GREAT news! Better that these films will be in the hands of Peter Jackson than some cheezy Hollywood director.

  14. Loved #26 ... le premiere etoile a bunch of times that I got to see him at the old Forum back in the 80s.
  15. And that would have what relevance to the game being played on the ice? That's the kind of trashy comment that a 'journalist' would make that would drive most fans, like you, nuts! Kettle, meet Pot

  19. Give the US version a try. After LOVING the UK one I found it difficult to watch a 'copy'. However, it quickly became it's own show and is a lot of fun. I hope they don't jump the shark. How many more seasons are expected?
  20. Man, the 80s get a lot of flack. Sure, POP music was kinda cheesy. However, pop music from most eras is cheesy. You gotta look behind the mainstream crap and look what was going on. Just one example in the 80s .... Stevie Ray Fuckin' Vaughan!! I just watched a special that I had on the PVR from PBS the other night: Stevie Ray Vaughan Live: Play Hard & Floor It! Stevie Ray Vaughan's uniquely eclectic and fiery style sounded like no other guitarist, regardless of genre - a leading light in American blues. STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN LIVE: PLAY HARD & FLOOR IT! showcases the guitar master's career with some of his finest performances caught on tape. Friend and Double Trouble bandmate drummer Chris Layton gives context to the performances in on-camera interviews. The special begins with Stevie Ray's debut at the 1982 Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland — an 'electric' unknown added to an acoustic blues night at the last minute. The songs were met by boos from an audience expecting a laid back evening of unadorned music, but today's audiences experience an archival gem of a star's early promise on "Pride & Joy" and "Texas Flood." Almost three years to the day, Stevie Ray headlined the 1985 Montreux festival to raves from a sold-out crowd, highlighted in the special with "Cold Shot," "Scuttle Buttin'" and "Say What!". At Toronto's tiny El Mocambo club, the historic venue hosted an intense Stevie Ray set in 1983, living up to this compilation's title of PLAY HARD & FLOOR IT! with "Love Struck Baby," and Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)." The special closes with performances from the height of Stevie Ray's career in his hometown of Austin, Texas in 1989, a year before his tragic death. Fans enjoyed pure magic that night including his #1 hit "Crossfire," the instrumental "Riviera Paradise," "Tightrope" and "The House is Rockin'," all preserved in this special as a tribute to his talent. Song List "Pride & Joy" (Montreux 1982) "Texas Flood" (Montreux 1982) "Cold Shot" (Montreux 1985 with Johnny Copeland) "Scuttle Buttin'" (Montreux 1985) "Say What!" (Montreux 1985) "Love Struck Baby" (El Mocambo - Toronto 1983) "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" (El Mocambo - Toronto 1983) "Tightrope" (Austin 1989) "Riviera Paradise" (Austin 1989) "Crossfire" (Austin 1989) "The House is Rockin'" (Austin)
  21. Crappy Tire's roadside assistance has worked for me for the past few years. It's attached to the vehicle, not the driver (not good for some people). Remember, it's "roadside" assistance. I learned this with CAA. DO NOT call them if you are on private property. Simply push your car onto the road and call. I've always wondered, if you got hammered, you could call roadside assistance and tell them to tow your car home (just disconnect the batt or something) and get a free lift!!! .
  22. Gotta love those 2nd periods for the Leafs! Used to always be the worst period for them it seemed. Toskala (and the pipes) really helped out the Leafs tonight. Poni nicely picked his targets too. SHould be a fantastic game on Saturday night.
