  1. What would you choose though: 1. 7-10 MB Cable service (that fluctuates with neighbours' usage) with a 60Gig cap each month or 2. 5 MB DSL dedicated service that is UNLIMITED. Depends on your usage, but if you are into downloading, streaming, torrenting, etc. what would you do?
  2. ^^^ Glad somebody got that ... punk. btw - Clint could whoop that loser Chuck Norris ANY DAY! Even if Chuck has Jesus as his sidekick
  3. Sweet ... good timing with the Town Ballroom show in Buffalo too
  4. Yup. I just can't get it in Oakville Just watch though, since Mountain Cable provides TV and VOIP, they'll prob follow Rogers/Sympatico/Cogeco eventually. Give 'em a call and ask them what their plan is. Might be interesting to see what they say.
  5. ^^^^^^ Don't ya just love "customer service" Seriously, the service at TekSavvy is supposed to be fantastic and nothing like any other provider. Since I broke free from Bell land lines when I went Vonage, I'll need to pay a little extra for a DryDSL, but I really think I'm going to do it.
  6. And another note ... with BELL you receive DEDICATED SERVICE via DSL! That means that YOUR traffic should have no bearing on anyone elses (unlike cable). It's BULLSHIT. Your speeds are dependent upon the copper wires and your distance from a main hub. How come the independent ISPs (who all run on BELL's backbone) can provide unlimited and uncapped service to customers?
  7. I've been getting my blood pressure up over this for the last couple of days. I had known that it was happening for a while, but just the other day i got a warning from Cogeco about exceeding their CAP LIMITS! This had never happened before and they are hiding behind their vague User Agreement Policy and other bullshit. Check out all the bullshit with the 3 BIGGIES (Rogers, Sympatico, Cogeco) and how they are ALL doing it: http://www.dslreports.com/forums/23 It's total bullshit and they will NEVER admit to it. Just like you experienced, they will turn around a LIE to you. I even had a guy start saying he didn't know what I was talking about when it came to traffic shaping/throttling/etc and he was a "tech expert"! Then he tells me that NOBODY offers unlimited bandwidth ... another LIE. I ask to speak to a supervisor and he says NO. I ask to speak to another tech who will corroborate his information and he says NO. Customer service was kind enough to drop my rate for 12 months (after they just jacked it up by $5 a month). What's the point of having high speed if you have to worry about your limits all the time. Users NEED that with all the different uses with their connections now (streaming audio/video, video communications, downloads, online gaming, downloading 'legal' music, etc. etc.) They are seeing a CASH GRAB here and way to penalize the heavier users (who are a minority). I asked to have a Tech Supervisor call me back. They did, the next day, but of course they called my home when they knew i was at work (and at the CBC who just did a damning piece on the big ISPs http://www.cbc.ca/marketplace/speed_bumps/ ) and didn't leave any worthwhile answers. I am going to get back at 'em when I have a chance. I am leaning heavily towards TekSavvy too! I did a lot of research and they seem to be the goods. The BIG ISPs are doing this to protect their other media streams IMHO. Why would they want you downloading/streaming/torrenting all your favourite TV shows and movies when they can get you to PAY for them on their other services?? Don't get sucked into "bundles" or long contracts. FUCK 'EM ... I place Bell, Rogers, and now Cogeco on my Colbert "On Notice" board of assholes (alongside insurance companies, oil companies, GWB, etc.) Seriously, anyone here who has "High Speed" access through a major provider should call them up and ask teh question (demanding a YES or NO answer) "Does _insert ISP_ utilizing traffic shaping/throttling on encrypted data transferred via torrent software?" Guarantee you get them waffling ... escalate it and raise hell.
  8. ^^^ Yup, and then he said something along the lines of "I've got over 600 other songs to choose from though" Hey, have you ever seen the Neil vid from the BBC back in '70 (or '71)? You can see a bunch of clips from it here: http://youtube.com/results?search_query=neil+young+bbc&search=Search And I can burn you a copy on DVD if you like, too. AMAZING performance!
  9. ^^^^^^^^ Naw ... just make him wear his Sens jersey in the next game with #24 and McCabe stiched on the back ps - i like Alfie's new hair cut
  10. Gotta check out the highlights. Some guys at work here said it really was a solid effort by the team and a lot of hustle.
  11. Nice one ... gotta love people who mix it up a bit
  12. Good point. That mag lost it's "cred" many years ago IMHO. I picked one up the other day and couldn't believe that it was still Rolling Stone?!
  13. Guys, take a look at the title of the article on the RS page: So, maybe we should give them their ranking ... which ones of these would you place at the top?
  14. So, how was the Massey Hall Finale? edger, did you get that ticket?
  15. go leafs go?! anyone want to plan a parade route?
  16. Hahaha ... very funny. You're telling me that the Leafs won tonight? And that Wozniewski got a goal? JFJ is a genius! I gotta get some sleep ... you're cracking me up ;P
  17. Another GREAT show last night. After a night off tonight, i'm really wishing I could make it to Thursday (Helpless, Sultan, Powderfinger ... maybe?) Interesting seeing the show from a different vantage point in the first balcony. Could get a much better sense of what was going on around the stage. The sound was perfect! Couldn't quite catch the facial expressions on Neil as much as up close on the floor. We had very respectful people all around us ... even the Chatty Cathy dude behind us would shut up whenever the music was on Had lots of time to relax before the show. Met up with a bunch of friends at The Library and had a few pints. Got to put some more faces to names from this board which is always fun. Had a talk with KevO and his buddy before leaving there. After the show got to bump into TimmyB again and had the pleasure to also meet the lovely Phorbsie, and Velvet outside on Shuter Street. Wish I could have had the time, and the energy, to hang out and party a little. I was exhausted. Trucked home and crashed. Work today was a bitch, but the post show glow still remained These two shows are bigtime highlights of my live-music going experiences. Never to be forgotten (especially when the recordings come out ) and always cherished. THANK YOU NEIL. I'll be there in spirit on Thursday. Have a great show for all those lucky enough to be attending Long may you run....
  18. Al, I totally remember that show. You reminded me of it when you mentioned the big mic with the yellow ribbon. He also had some of the oversized "prop" amps up on stage too, didn't he? (the ones you see on the cover of Rust Never Sleeps). He was also touring around that year in the old Buffalo Springfield tour bus I think?
