  1. It's a federal grant as far as I know. And for all we know bluesfest could have had their press announcements planned just as far in advance as folk fest. Two great festivals.
  2. Big announcement today supposedly.... Market shows I think.

    Chicken on the grill

lots of delicious ways to do amazing kebabs. i think that's my favourite way.
  4. he had time to shower and put on his suit and walk around without help while the game was still on, so it wasn't a serious injury. whether he can skate / torque / take hits etc at the NHL level is another story though.
  5. If you wanna see a creative re-working of a contemporary song, check this: V-GssCjko1Q
  6. par for the course i suppose, but i think this is terrible. but you probably saw that coming.
  7. Yeah - and that those nuts people exist.
  8. Booche, the dude you quoted wrote an article to address all the people complaining of a conspiracy. I know that you me and him don't think there are any conspiracies at work here, but the whole point of the article is that some people do think that. Read it again if you missed that.
  9. Oh, so you didn't read the article you posted then.
  10. Dave-o, can we adapt your comments directed at Kev from the Sens series to everyone else talking about conspiracies in the Habs series?
  11. Montreal would be the furthest west a whale could get. There's the Lachine Rapids (and subsequent locks and dams) at Montreal, the Beauharnois and Pointe-des-cascades dams just a bit west of that, and then there's the Massena Hydro Dam.
  12. Crosby isn't the only crybaby I see.
  13. Grey whale hanging out in False Creek this week too. They need their GPS units calibrated. It was an interesting question, the fresh vs. salt-water one, so I looked it up. Whales can technically live in both, but are built for salt-water as the majority of their food lives in salt-water so they have to follow that. Also, salt-water is better for their skin and helps cuts heal faster. Apparently whales are susceptible to some skin diseases which the salt-water is very good at counteracting.
  14. He only scored 4 goals in half a period. Slacker.
  15. They'd be contracted by Bluesfest; venue, name of event etc might not yet be known or ready to be made public. So it could all change once the lineup/branding for the Market shows is released.
  16. Why the media ignored the Nashville flood
  17. It is. NXNE has a few free shows at that location over the course of the festival - the night before Iggy is Sloan. I think De La Soul is another free show headliner?
  18. The oil spill in the Gulf is overshadowing another awful story in the USA, and that's the horrible flooding in Tennessee, and specifically Nashville. I've spent a bit of time there and while it's a gritty no-nonsense city, there's also history around every corner and lots of cool shit going down everywhere. 31 people have been killed so far in the flooding (not all in TN or Nashville, but it's widespread). Asking for vibes for the people and families first, landmarks, venues, musicians, instruments and history of Nashville and surrounding areas... In case you haven't seen or heard what's going on, here's a place to start... 19. They probably get that reason all the time, hehe

    Dam!

I know the dude that discovered that, he's from Ottawa and his name is Jean Thie. He's one of the first users of GIS in Canada and created the Canadian Land Inventory (a big deal among geographers) I believe and had a part in inventing GRASS although I could be wrong on that. (NorthernWish will know what I'm talking about). The guy is full of himself and can't talk about anything else, but he's put a ton of time into finding and mapping big beaver dams so I guess that's cool... Also, the whole 'visible from space' thing doesn't mean much anymore since high-res satellite imagery became commercially viable and accessible. I guess in this case it's noteworthy because you can see the dam and there's no canopy overhead. Busy beavers!
