  1. We cannot lie down and take this one. Please post if you find an email address that seems like it might belong to someone who might listen. There are 100's of us who are pissed off, and the tactics were totally transparent- surely we can make out voices heard.

I'm really tired and not exactly articulate right now but this is what I wrote to bettyfrost@phish.com with cc's to all I could find on their webpage:

HI Betty, I know you will be getting lots of mail so I will keep it short. What the heck happened with the ticketing for Toronto? At both PTBM and regular onsale time the best tickets that were being found by most (I will admit that one friend did receive Pits from the lottery) were 400 level at best.

Immediately following the onsale there was an onslaught of 200s to StubHub.

We all tried really hard to get good tix for the first show back in TO since 2000 (I was there and at 99 too); and then to watch Ticketmaster drop 300s and Pits over the weekend and then all of the remaining 200s yesterday.

I won't swear- or stomp on my soapbox- but I will just say that I am supremely dissapointed. I read that Phish got a $1 mill dollar bonus to play only LNation venues last summer. I would expect that will have to stay in place as fewer and fewer fans want to buy bad seats at the onsale- and will rather wait for prices to fall drastically on the secondary market due to the backhanded tactics. Would Phish really rather have Live Nations money, than from their own fans? Perhaps that is one of the reasons they are no longer a band that sells out shows- its too busy selling out its fans.

Lets be honest here the band or management is clearly playing with the on sales to ensure that the worst seats are eaten up by real fans, and then maybe you get some casual interlopers to buy the good seats near the show. Somehow this seems like a better way to sell more tickets to someone like Coran.

This is not acceptable and Phish fans won't stand for it. I will never ever buy tickets to a Phish event in advance again.

I hope the lid gets blown off of this situation like all of those manhole covers during the massive storm last night.

Even though I love the band -this will be my 63rd show- all travelling far and wide from Canada (even during the days of 52% currency exchange)- this is the first time I feel like they don't love us.

    Too bad, so sad,

    Sean Taylor

  2. I read today that while it says show time of 7, that they will take the stage at 7:30- but I am certainly not going to take that chance.

Lots of rain in the forecast- I wonder if they will allow the people on the lawn to fill up the empty seats. I have seen that done at the Molson Amp twice before.

  3. I thought Felice Brothers were incredible. Dawes was very very good, they just don't do anything mind blowing (other than play their excellent songs flawlessly).

Dave Hodge and Frank Turner co introduced The Hold Steady, and then Frank danced around in the pit for their set. They were also one of a very few bands all weekend that got an encore which of course Mr Turner sat in on....

  4. Felice Brothers > Skydiggers > Dawes > Matt Mays > Frank Turner > Lowest of the Low > Hold Steady

The best 9 straight hours of uninterrupted festival programming I have seen in a long time.

If that wasn't enough there was a multitude of skanks both old and new in the crowd, if you could call it that. Cheers to all of you- you know who you are.

    Thank you and good night!

  5. Its too bad for the organizers that there weren't more people there- but for me it was fantastic to not have to wait in line for anything or even try at all to have a great view.

The sun is shining, so I am sure the little bit of water lying around will be long gone by the time Felice Bros. hit the stage.

I'm really excited for todays lineup.

    HOLD STEADY!!

  6. I figure this will deserve it own thread so why not start it now. The first show is in the books and while I haven't read any reviews or listened to anything so far; if I got a setlist like that I think chances are I would be pretty happy......

  7. sec 410 can be had for $8.75 and pit tickets are now $75....

Its amazing what is happening. Ticket sales are going to end soon because most of the tickets for sale are listed with UPS shipping, so the prices are falling fast.

Most tickets can be had for $20 or less now. Even in the 200s.

    Pits for $60!

  8. Booche:

While lyrical humor has always been a key element of "Makisupa," the solo acoustic version Trey played at his New Year's Eve show in 2006 perhaps pushed the black humor envelope, with the keyword, "Whitehall," referencing the location of Trey's very public drug arrest. Given Trey's subsequent probation and newfound sobriety, many fans wondered if the band would continue to play "Makisupa" and if the lighthearted drug references would remain part of the song. Indeed, the first 3.0 version of "Makisupa" on 6/6/09 was notably without a keyword. However, prankster-ism soon won out and the subsequent version on 6/20/09 contained a more lighthearted reference to Trey's probation when he sang, "Woke up this morning, pissing in jah cup / Woke up this afternoon, called my probation officer."

Thankfully, the song's musical vitality has also remained, as evidenced by the 8/8/09 version where Mike and Trey switched instruments leading to a rare Mike guitar solo. The 6/20/10 rendition was also interesting, as Trey told an impromptu story about an encounter with a Makisupa Policeman that set up solos for Mike, Page and Fish. The 5/28/11 version set up a joke that would last the whole tour about Mike’s house and Page’s house.

  9. I think Americanarama suffered from the same poor routing. If you've ever been to Florida at this time of the year you know its way too hot for an outdoor show that starts at 5pm and last for 6 hours.

With every band getting wise to touring lining their pockets the way physical sales did 2 decades ago, you have more shows and therefore more venues being booked solid in the major markets so you have to reach a little further or get creative to book a tour.

That said it would appear as though Phish will have around 10K at the Amp (based on the massive inventory of tickets both at ticketmaster and the secondary resale sites- plus all of the chumps like me who got PTBM lawns and then upgraded at the regular onsale therefore eating tickets). If it were a Saturday night during a slow concert period- I still don't think they would fill the place. Their star is falling and thats fine; like Booche said bring on the You Snooze, You Lose Tour!

  10. The cheapest I am seeing on that link is $17 for lawns.

There are still $4 tix. What has happened is you have highlighted a section on the map and its only showing you tix in that level. You have to reset map on the left above the seating chart to see the full availability.
