  3. Hottest advance ticket in Cuff-Hamilton-History! [color:green]Cincinnati Records Presents Friday May 25 9PM || $12/$15 || Tickets at Casbah Lounge, Dr.Disc, Sonic Unyon and tixit.ca CUFF THE DUKE SPIRAL BEACH STEVE McKAY (Drinking Cap Records) Casbah 306 King St West 905-521-4441 For those not aware of SPIRAL BEACH... Music: http://www.myspace.com/spiralbeach Bio: Having grown up in the exuberant chaos of the Canadian folk music scene, Spiral Beach appeared when the Woodhead brothers discovered the baffling swank that is being a rock n' roll band. Dorian, a transplant from New York City, joined on bass, learning to play it soon afterwards. All three woke up one morning to find that Maddy Wilde was in the band too. Combining genuine energy and showmanship with a youthful confidence that many bands are never able to achieve, their live shows are showcases for their fearless performance style and sophisticated songwriting skills. With one album out, and another on the way, Spiral Beach are. . . . . a band.

  8. "Muddy Waters always lamented the fact that younger black people did not seem interested in his music. If he were alive today, he would be very proud of his son, Big Bill Morganfield. As the son of one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, he has proven that he`s inherited more then a regal blues pedigree and a wonderfully menacing baritone voice from his father. Big Bill`s three recordings on the Blind Pig label document his full maturation as a guitarist, songwriter and vocalist. Big Bill Morganfield rises to the challenge of meeting many of the burdensome expectations placed upon him and certifies that he is now a major talent in his own right." ps: STEVE STRONGMAN will be doing some solo acoustic blues to open this concert!

  11. It's been pointed out to me, that many people on this board may not realize that Casbah 'LOUNGE' refers to the smaller art-space next door to the band/concert room at 306 King St West. Casbah (venue) is a 200 person space where most of the shows take place. (ie The Slip May 19th etc). Casbah (Lounge) is a smaller 50 person space where much of our DJ programming, small live show and birthday party type events take place. The entrance to the lounge is further north on the Queen Street side of the building.

  17. ...at CASBAH! [color:green]Cincinnati Records Proudly Presents DEL THE FUNKY HOMOSAPIEN Friday July 27 9PM // Casbah // 306 King St W // 905-521-4441 Tickets ($20) on Sale Monday May 7th Available at: Casbah Lounge || Dr.Disc || Sonic Unyon || Tixit.ca Cousin of renowned gangster rapper Ice Cube, Del tha Funkee Homosapien (real name Teren Delvon Jones) was born in Oakland, CA, on August 12, 1972, and got his start with Ice Cube's backing band, da Lench Mob. But Del's rap isn't as grim or violent as Ice Cube's is, in fact, he's been known to include something in his music that's far too uncommon in most rap: humor. Signed to Elektra/Asylum, Del's debut release, I Wish My Brother George Was Here, was issued in 1991 and produced by Cube and like most rap at the time, featured numerous samples of Parliament Funkadelic classics from the '70s. Del's follow-up, 1994's No Need for Alarm, was a departure musically, as Ice Cube was no longer in the production seat and the P-Funk sounds were dropped in favor of a more sophisticated, almost jazzy sound. Despite his noble experimentation, Del's sophomore effort failed commercially, as it would take four years for the rapper to plot his next move and issue another recording. Having left Elektra, Del aligned himself closely to a few fellow rapper friends, Casual and Souls of Mischief, and issued his third release overall, 1998's Future Development, for the same label as his friends, Hieroglyphics Records. 2000 saw the release of an all-new Del solo release, Both Sides of the Brain, as well as a self-titled debut release by a side-project, Deltron 3030, which saw Del join forces with both the Automator and Kid Koala. ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide.... More Info here: http://www.hieroglyphics.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Del_tha_Funkee_Homosapien http://www.myspace.com/delthefunkyhomosapien OPENING ACTS ARE TO BE ANNOUNCED. STAY TUNED!!!
