  2. Hamilton show has Rick solo opening, as well as Julie solo opening as well as Chris' Moonsocket opening. If you aren't into this band's style of modern-psych and indie rock, no prob. But for those into that scene of music, $12 is a STEAL for this rare show. I would bet this price is cheaper than many of the shows on this leg of dates as well.
  3. There will be no border issues this time 'round. He's playing Wakestock which covered all immigration tariffs on this tour.

  5. This residency is with a band. Quartet actually. No openers. 2-3 sets of music. A DJ spinning soul records before, between and after the sets.
  6. "I'm in love with the system" - Forgotten Rebels (Insert frustrated sarcasm here)

[color:green]Cincinnati Records Proudly Presents Thursday July 26th 8pm Doors, 9pm Show $8 || 19+ (Limited all-ages) || CASBAH, 306 King St W || 905-521-4441 SLOWCOASTER (11:30pm) Coming from Cape Breton Island, Slowcoaster offers an alternative to the traditional Celtic tunes for which the area has become so well known - something which reflects another side of the island's music scene...A mish-mash of influence and style produce irresistibly catchy songs which are both honestly written and undeniably danceable. The music is a fusion of funk and reggae, with hints of rock, jazz, hip-hop and Latin rhythms forming a distinct original sound. Steve MacDougall (Lead guitar & vocals)|| Mike Lelievre (Bass guitar, vocals)|| Brian Talbot (Drums)|| Darren Gallop (Percussion, vocals) THE GRASSROOTS DEVIATION (10:30pm) The Grassroot Deviation is a four piece musical group relentlessly wandering the spectrum of roots, rock and funk. Blending a multiplicity of musical genres, expressive lyrics, compelling rhythms and guitar harmonies, the band delivers a vibrant and explosive live experience. They have shared the bill with an eclectic range of acts including Wassabi Collective, Captain Tractor, Five Alarm Funk, The Uncas, Blue Quarter, and The Fabulous Beefeders. In March 2006, The Grassroot Deviation released their self-titled debut album. The disc has been compared to “a soothing road trip…with a quick detour through the funk bars of Detroitâ€. 11. [color:green]Cincinnati Records Proudly Presents Tuesday July 17th 7:30pm Doors, 8:30PM Show $8 || 19+ (Limited all-ages) || CASBAH, 306 King St W || 905-521-4441 A HISTORY OF (11:15pm) Loud post hardcore has become a time-honored tradition in Halifax, Nova Scotia. A History Of delivers songs with an earnest conviction and urgency that separates them from a musical climate of irony and its trappings. Punk energy built on angular rhythms and dangerous overtones, their sound lands between DC punk, North East indie and Chicago math rock. The band's lineage imparts a pedigree of great promise with members of The Plan, Intercity Runner, The Medium Mood, and Tomcat Combat. A History Of released their debut Victory Atlas EP on Noyes Records in the spring of 2007. Lance Purcell - Drums || Noel MacDonald - Guitar & Vocals || Jeffrey Parker - Guitar & Vocals || Andrew Macpherson - Bass & Vocals THE MEDIUM MOOD (10:15pm) Out with the old, in with the new. With a change in title and a (sometimes) rotation of members, the Medium Mood (formally known as Safety Scissors) are bringing a refreshing twist to that beloved math rock style. Meant only as a summer fling, members Chad Peck (guitar, vocals), Andrew Gordon (bass, vocals), Adam Hartling (drums), and Tim MacLeod (bass) have lasted well beyond the summer of 2005. Shout-along choruses, jarring guitars and frenzied vocals are the trademark of their sounds which leaves their ever expanding fan base wanting more. With one release already under their belt: Fugitives (NR-001), these boys from Truro, NS hold much promise. A forthcoming full length release documents the group’s exploration of new sounds and structures. It will not disappoint. Aggressive and urgent, the Medium Mood are the founding talents of the Noyes Records collective and the new reason to trek out in the cold for a show. Guests: OVER THE GARDEN WALL (12:15) THE MIDNIGHT COMMUTE (9:30) GHETTO PONY (8:45)
  12. [color:green]Cincinnati Records Proudly Presents Tuesday July 10th 8pm Doors, 9PM Show $8 || 19+ (Limited all-ages) || CASBAH, 306 King St W || 905-521-4441 CARBON DATING SERVICE (11:30pm) Saskatoon’s sping thaw has flooded Carbon Dating Service out of the basement with Polyentendrii, an album that bobs on its very own raft built of duct-taped trombones, flugelhorn, harp, viola, synthesizers, thumb piano, banjo and whirligigs. Exploring their backgrounds in classical, jazz, cute things, lo-fi indie rock and Dungeons & Dragons, Carbon Dating Service spent the winter feverishly disassembling and reassembling songs like malfunctioning electronic appliances. The result is eight unforgettable compositions, with loving attention paid to Masterpiece Theatre flourishes, arm-linking choral interludes, catchy baroque canons and the odd snow-melting explosion. MAYBE SMITH (10:30pm) Maybe Smith is Colin Skrapek, a striking one-piece ensemble who relishes in the comfort of a harsh Saskatchewan winter. The result is Animals & Architects, Maybe Smith's fourth full-length effort and fifth release overall since 2002. An album full of rollicking pop songs, Animals & Architects is sparked at every chord change with sing-along vocals, pounding drums and curious electronics. From the opening guitar line and closing la-la's of lead-off track "Open War", through to the piano banging and electronic chaos of closer "Bad Swimmer", this delightful wall-of-sound is like a wonderfully bizarre combination of Phil Spector and Frank Gehry. Guests: CALEDONIA (9:00) THE BREAK-UP LETTER (9:45)
