  1. So we're gonna set up and play on the patio at Quarters this Thursday night. Quarters is the bar in the basement of the student centre at Mac. Our friends the Old Youth - who are from Sudbury but are on their way back from a tour out East - will open up. They're a great band with a Thrush Hermit-type sound, very raw and East Coast-style. If it's looking like rain we're going to play inside in the pub part. No cover. Set times to follow.

  2. Glad you dug the record KevO. His new one has some good steel playing on it too, nothing like Jacksonville though.

Jaimoe I'm just letting this video load up, it looks killer.

(ahem) If I may be so bold, have a listen to the Surly Young Bucks' tune Edmonton, there's a live version available on our MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/thesurlyyoungbucks . That's me on the steel. I'm particularly happy with this performances, it's way better than the one we recorded last year. Still a little raw (it's live after all) but all the elements are there I feel. My friend Max wrote the tune and I think it's a monstrously heavy song.

  3. Ladies and gentlemen. The day has arrived. This show is tonight. We are stoked and dressing up for the occasion.

I will be talking to Jamie 'Gunner' Smith on Sounds of the Hammer on C101.5 at 5pm today, mainly talking about the Bucks but also about all the other projects I'm involved in - to date I'm involved in 9 (!!) active bands. 101.5 FM in Hamilton, or click here to listen online - click 'listen live'.

Then at 6:30pm, the whole band (I think) will be performing and talking to Ric Taylor on Lullabies in Razorland on CFMU. 93.3 FM in Hamilton, or http://cfmu.mcmaster.ca online, click 'Webcast'.

    Woo hoo!

  5. Oh man

*I have no communication skills. I will never tell you what is wrong with me, nor will I share any of my secrets, fears, hopes or dreams with you. {I do have several of these- one of them is to someday not be so crazy.} You will have to pry information out of me. I feel like if I confide in you, when I ultimately drive you away- which I am bound to do- you will have these personal pieces of me and that makes me feel vulnerable and I am terrified of being vulnerable.

Well it got me into reading the Best of Craigslist, thanks Alexis!

  6. What a lame, half-assed review. I was at the show too, on the floor. Thank god for earplugs! The light show quite literally blew my mind...and I work for a production company where the lighting department is twice as big as the audio department, and I've seen all the fancy new lighting things. Or so I thought.

Anyway this show was all about Danny Carey for me, it was a treat to see him play. It was super heavy and rather tripped-out, and I was very nearly crushed a couple times by a massive moshpit that opened up in front of me, but it was all in good fun.
