  1. The setup they use for concerts now is different than Sarstock, they use a different part of the park. I would bet the area they use only holds more than Molson Amp, but not by a ton. Molson with full lawn is 17,000 - I bet the configuration they use now holds in the neighbourhood of 25,000.

    Edit to add: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downsview_Park

"The Tragically Hip performed to a crowd of approx. 30,000 on Canada Day 2011."

    So there ya go.

  2. I think TheGoodRev is playing steel with The Beauties, Daniel Romano, and The Sadies.

    Aloha,

    Brad

This is true, but also, I believe that the Beauties are backing up much of the lineup. I think I have about 20 tunes to learn! I'm going to a rehearsal tomorrow night and will report back. I'm likely to be onstage much of the night. This is at Maverick's btw. The Sadies/Daniel Romano is a joint effort, with Daniel on drums for the Sadies (Mike Belitsky can't make it) and then apparently I'll jump on the drums as well. I have THAT rehearsal tomorrow before the Beauties' run-through, so again, I will report.

  3. From New Riders Facebook page:

In case you haven’t heard Buddy Cage is in the hospital. He wasn’t feeling well and had some tests run. Unfortunately they found blood cancer. We don’t know much more than that at this point but we’ll keep you all posted. We want to thank Mookie Siegel, Barry Sless and Professor Louie for stepping in and helping us out this past weekend.

    More from Leslie Cage:

Hello Everyone. Thank you for all of your messages of love and support during this difficult time. I have been in the hospital with Buddy all day and night since he was admitted Wednesday. This type of cancer affects the white blood cells, causing proliferation in the marrow that is so excessive that it retards the production of RBCs. RBCs bind oxygen and circulate it through the body so side effects include exhaustion. He WILL still be able to perform but NEVER to carry his own equipment (much love to Skarekrow and DeLacey on that one), or to stay away for too long a period of time. For now, I am enjoying his sexy dredlocks because he may soon be rocking a sexy Lex Luthor look. Imagine Buddy without hair... he will STILL be the sexiest man ever! We will keep you posted

  4. Thanks man. Anyhow back to the topic at hand, who's stoked for Skrillex? :D

Seriously though, I'm hoping I get a chance to see The Word. So many others in the lineup I'm stoked for and hope I get to catch. What's the word on the Avett Brothers, I think I've read some praise for them on the board before? I'd like to catch them. We also have two dates with them at the end of June, in Salt Lake City and at Red Rocks.

  5. You bet it is Todd. This was probably one of my first half-dozen gigs.

And here we are just a few weeks ago, with our own gear and some finer duds. Some might recognize my pal Danny Romano B-bending that Telecaster at far stage left.

  6. My guess is City and Colour. Very, very cool Aaron. That will be an amazing and exciting accomplishment. Stoked for you.

Sarah is right, Mark. I joined the touring lineup of City and Colour last June and have since been travelling like crazy. It's been pretty unreal. Have played in some super heavy places and at some unbelievable festivals. Still blows my mind that I get to sit at a steel guitar every night for a living. When we make it to Bonnaroo we'll be fresh from a monthlong tour of Australia.

I guess I haven't really been around here too much since this all went down! Hi everybody!

  7. Happy New Year and hope all are well over here...been a little while...

Happy Endings is playing a house show in Hamilton on Friday night and thought I'd send out the word.

Happy Endings is our band Huron (myself and kookycanooky included) joining forces with our pal Ian Blurton to create mega psych/stoner jams and general 70's-style stoner-appealing rock. Lots of amps, jams into the sunset, lots o' riffin times, psychedelic steel guitar, hammond organ through the tape echo, you get the idea.

87 Augusta in Hamilton on Friday night with a couple other cool bands. Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/events/224834477593667/

Friendly people only! See you then maybe! If not see you another time!

  8. tomorrow wraps up early (specifically 1:30pm), need to get Jack back to Toronto. There are and will be books to sign at all the constituency offices though. If you aren't in an NDP riding I could probably find out for you the closest office where you can go and sign a book.

Oh I'm in a riding alright. Andrew Cash is my man. Thanks Pat.

  9. This is wild. I'm supposed to go to Ottawa tomorrow, leaving here around midday, and will stay until Saturday. Thought about trying to go sign the book tomorrow when I get there but it appears as though it may not work out. Any idea what the hours are like Pat?

  10. Ha Ha! A dude on another board I frequent is suggesting the re-union rumor, and subsequent quashing of it, is an elaborate publicity stunt to draw traffic to Iommi's website, where, lo and behold, fans can see that he's got an autobiography coming out next month!

Haha! If this is true, hilarious kudos to Iommi. However I must say, I ventured over to read the statement and didn't even notice the banners. They should have a graphic of a book to convey the message to the dumb people.

  11. I'll be there with Dan Romano!

Awesome' date=' I wondered if you might be coming. Congrats on opening for a grammy winner... err, at least so I hear.[/quote']

Why Dave, I don't have any idea what you're talking about. The 53' trailer being unloaded onto the stage at present belongs to the Romanos. We have an extensive light show.
