  1. We've been added to the Doctors Without Borders benefit at the Casbah tomorrow. Also on the bill are the Rebel Emergency, Obijou, Kae Sun and Hearts at Half Mast. We're on at 8:45 for 40 minutes, cover is $10 and all proceeds benefit Doctors Without Borders. This is your last chance to see us in Hamilton before March 17 (unless we book something else in the meantime)(which is unlikely).

  2. Quit your griping, ya bum. I'm a busy guy with music to make and dolla dolla billz to earn.

Those names are all good but I think we've simply settled on the fact that we're going to be the Achievers and that's all there is to it. Band names don't really matter anyway. Come see us tomorrow night at the Doctors Without Borders benefit at Casbah.

  3. I believe there were two pressings of 3 Parts. Can't confirm, but I'd bet they replaced the bad version with the good version. The covers were the same, except one with white background, one with yellow. I used to have the old version, they were on a bill at the Horseshoe one year during NxNE, I think opening for Matt Mays and El Torpedo, maybe three years ago. The front guy was handing out copies of the disc all over the place from the stage.

  4. thats week, when i hear that name i picture a group of grade 9 nerds, rockin gout the semi formal, with big black glasses and pocket protectors, and the guy up front had one of those keyboard guitars. and at least 2 of them are wearing pianio key ties

    but hey its your band

That's really something special, buddy. I really appreciate your input.

  5. See you on St. Patties day! I think I read somewhere that Slowcoaster was also playing that night? Should be a great night of music! Any idea when you are to hit the stage?

    Cheers

We're first up, as I understand it. Had no idea Slowcoaster was on the bill too! What a night!

p.s. It looks like I announced that 30th gig prematurely, it turns out that it was never confirmed and is now not happening...sorry

    That is hilarious.

I think it's looking like we might just stay with The Achievers for now. Bummer, because if there was a time to change it, it'd be now. You know, because we're all famous and such.

And, er, allow me to take this opportunity to publish our confirmed upcoming shows :D :D :D :

Wed Feb 7 - Sneaky Dee's, 431 College St., Toronto (no cover)

Fri Feb 9 - Savannah Room, 294 College St., Toronto

Sun Feb 11 - Gladstone Hotel, 1214 Queen St. W, Toronto

Sat Mar 17 - Casbah, 306 King St., Hamilton (Fat Cats St. Patrick's Day Party)

    Come check us out...

  7. isn't creating a band name / persona / identifier one of the key things in the creative process? why wouldn't you want to keep hold of that nice and tight to the vest?

I doubt Robert Zimmerman put an ad in the paper saying hey, give me a cool name...

    just a thought.

Point taken. I suppose I was just looking to see whether I had any support for Sedan Delivery or the Welfare Mothers.

  8. I haven't worn contacts in a couple years, but I wore them for probably 4 or 5 years straight at one point. One day when I was putting them in, I was sure I had gotten my left one in but I couldn't see properly and couldn't see it on the counter anywhere. I searched and searched and couldn't find the bugger so I cracked a new one and put it in. It never worked its way out, so I suppose there's the possibility that I still have a contact lens lodged behind my left eye. No problems yet, so I figure you're in the clear!

  9. Wow, what an overwhelming response. To clarify:

    - Welfare Mothers and Sedan Delivery are both Neil Young tunes, from the Rust Never Sleeps record

    - I think I can get away with naming the band after a Neil tune without being a cover band because, well, there's a moderately successful band out there called Powderfinger (another Neil tune from the same album), and another called Aqualung (a Jethro Tull record/song)

    - Junior Achiever is already a band

    - We were originally going to be the Urban Achievers (the name is a reference to the Big Lebowski) but found out there was a band with the same name from Chicago who had taken all the good web domains

    - The Others Disagree and Brocolli are both good ones, I might consider them

    - Come on, nobody likes Sedan Delivery? I think that's the best bet

We're not a groovy hippy band. We're a no-bullshit Crazy Horse-style rock band with healthy doses of Canadian roots-rock and Southern rock. Sedan Delivery still gets my vote. Please, continue with your suggestions, and thank you.
