  1. just wondering how lucky you skanks are...

I was born, raised, and live in Canada

    I am a university student

I have running water in my home

I have enough food to feed myself, and occasionally my friends

I have a job down the street that allows me to move my shifts around when my class schedule changes

I live with three friends, and I have many more

I was blessed with the opportunity to learn how to play several musical instruments, something which brings me great joy

I have parents, grandparents, a brother, sister and girlfriend who love me as much as I love them

    wait for it

SO I'M PRETTY DAMN LUCKY! :D

Sorry to go all hippie on y'all, thought it had to be said though. No offense intended. I haven't won anything on RUTR yet either and I'm pissed, too :D.

  2. Eddie Van Halen's solo on Beat It is phenomenal.

The urban legend I've heard dictates that VH sat down and cut that solo in the first take, as sort-of a run-through. The producer loved it and didn't even want him to do another take.

I also heard that no matter how much money they offered him, VH wouldn't appear in the video :D.

  3. No password. Go to http://www.hob.com and register as an online member if you're not already. Then in the search bar at top right, search 'crowes' and three shows will come up. Choose the KH one and proceed, if there are still tickets. Keep refreshing, a friend of mine just got his because somebody else's card was declined or something and their tickets were released.

    Good luck!

edit: That might not work. Try this link, though I think they're gone.

  4. S Ontario is pretty broad...what city are you going to be in?

When I lived in Toronto I had a ton of places that I frequented. The place to start is called CD Characters on Queen W. If you're on the NE corner of Queen and Spadina, the entrance is to the left of Gorilla Monsoon (which is to the left of the Horseshoe). You walk up the stairs and it's the first place on the right. The guy who runs it is pleasant and no-BS, and he's got a good selection of vinyl, and also lots of CD bootlegs and used CDs.

Further west on Queen, on the south side, is a place called Queentessential. This guy has a lot of actual records in his place, but I've found way more actual GOOD stuff at CD Characters because the guy there doesn't buy crap. Worth stopping in though.

Further west, just west of Bathurst on the North side of Queen, is Rotate This. Good selection, staff a little elitist, but also worth stopping in.

A block or two west of THAT on the south side is Silver Discus, great little store. Bought a mint copy of the London Howlin Wolf Sessions in there (it was a later pressing, but still nice and mint :D).

Across the street from THAT (and maybe a block west too, I don't remember) is Neurotica. Also good. Bargain bins in the front, crap 4 for a dollar or something.

So that's enough to fill a day on Queen West :D. If you're going to be uptown I've also had great luck at Sonic Temple, on the West side of Yonge St, north of Sheppard/south of Finch, in the next block north of the Empress Walk movie theatres.

    Happy hunting eh.

  5. it doesnt seem to be marking the threads I've already read.

That would be my only complaint as well...

Same here, but otherwise awesome bouche. I like a little change now and then, good work.

edit: ok I figured it out, the little folder to the left of each thread title in the Cavern is 'manilla' if unread, white if read. Above each post the bar with the subject is grey if unread, white if read.

  6. Shawn on drums, Christine for moral support... but we wanted a second drummer tonight too, I have the bass (and keys?)... I also have a set of congas for that other level of percussion that I love to hear (need someone for those)... lets do it up royally one night until the sheep come home (that's after the cows come home by far)..

Rev & Shawn... that was a frigg'n wicked jam tonight... I forsee many 'o nights of in-depth mind expanding jammessness... I still can't believe how good that sounded for a few blokes sitting down an playing for the first time....

We gotta work on the band name too!!

    Sean.

    Christina.

    :D

I agree, we had ourselves quite an awesome jam. We've got two drumkits rockin here at chez Rev, Jay if you're looking to jam we'd love have you. Let's hook it up.

  7. I have a CDR copy of 1994-11-14 Everett, WA. Got it in a big trade if I remember. The show is a liberated bootleg, for some reason when I got it in the trade it was only available in audio and burned TAO, but I took it anyway. It turns out to be a pretty sweet show. The whole damn thing is dripping in reverb, probably a combination of intended reverb through the house system, and a cavernous, echoey room. Here's the setlist:

Gr8ful do you do a lot of trading? I'd happily trade the show to you if you've got a list hanging around. Lemme know.

  8. Man that was an awesome spontanious jam. Imagine how good we could sound if we got serious about sh!t... Also, Quincy?? Isaac. My buddy's name is Isaac. :D Hilarious that you somehow heard Quincy though, he'll get a kick out of that. You're allowed though dude, I only wish I was as hammed as you last night. There will be many others, though, I predict.

  9. We have all four seasons of ATHF on the Xbox over here...have seen all the episodes multiple times and they're still hilarious. Last night I happened to watch 'Super Computer' from season three, I had totally forgotten how fu©king hilarious it was.

"So before Oog know it, Oog spine straighten, and me start to feather back dirty matted hair into wings for style, and me stop to use bathroom, as opposed to doing it as me walk."

"...dude, send e-mails from your brain. Also comes with rad new games like the Legend of Soletar!"

"Yeah! And it totally cures all diseases dude! I kicked my zits to the CURB!"

"Duuuuude. You're getting an Oogi Migtaaaaach."

I think my favourite is still Super Trivia though, with Wayne "The Brain" McLean.
