  1. Hotty #1 replaced by Hotty #2 (this time with glasses!) at terminal to right.
  2. Sure that's what he did. I'd love to do that more often.
  3. I'd have to say I completely concur with Buddy's assessment but then also that obviously it's sour grapes at not riding the Dead gravy train. I hadn't noticed that Collett on Tuck comment nice! I had a talk with Julie Doiron and her band the other day about Al and they really felt he doesn't want to go any further than he has. That guy is a riddle wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a drunk.
  4. It's funny that's what Vice used to do with its ad clients - send them E in the mail til they realized it's against the law to send E in the mail.
  5. I taunted the indie rock kids to come up with a good example of a harsh and critical article and they came up with this. Quite good and quite critical. Decemberists
  6. Maybe I should recruit for an 'adult website' around here. Like Suicide Girls but less gloomy. See Campus Police.
  7. Open any thread on the KW board where I'm posting. Those fuggers HATE me. I love it. I've got one going called Editorial Handjobs that's good, the Slip thread has turned into something else and also the longstanding Echo Plagiarism thread. Some of them you sense that they don't quite no how to respond. Feel familiar? Get on there and help me out.

    Sassafraz on fire

I used to work at Nervosa around the corner and Sassafraz is indeed an institution (but not for the food).
  9. I've got a whole new set of bitches who are slowly learning the Kung rules of engagement i.e. don't engage. Mainly on their KW board as then I get the offchance of running into these indie rock twits around town and actually calling them on their shit in person. I have to say it is quite invigorating to be hated again.
  10. Not in handcuffs yet. Nice one though. Good thing I don't have a cellphone though as I'd have been snapping away and then, yes, I would have likely been detained.
  11. I laughed out loud about the elbows behind the back thing and she looked at me like I was a fucking mutant. Of course I had to then explain what I was laughing about (minus context) which led one of those puzzled 'my track pants sucked my brain into my hind quarters' looks.
  12. Somehow I'm thinking from the Instant messaging rubbish she's tapping away at that it might not go over well Heidi says: Barf!
  13. Case in point some ultra hotty just sat down right next to me.
  14. I want to do a big interview with Whiteman for this record. He and Friedman are the two most interesting figures in indie rock to my eyes.
  15. I'm sitting here using the library computers at the U of G and it is like hotty central. Seriuosly it's ridiculous, like you want to tape your trouser snake down to your thigh with duct tape.
  16. I heard second hand that while it seems like they were being jovial early in the interview apparently it was really fucking tense. Like no laughing matter. At some point you can see (or hear) he gets Waits on board. Largely through humour, perserverance and lacing his dialogue with Waits quotes (flattery- which you wouldn't think Waits was susceptible to). I like the gender relations question.
  17. Found an old interview from '99 with Exclaim's Michael Barclay. Waits really gives him the runaround.
  18. Not sure if everyone knows the story of the purchase of this lot of what was originally thought to be merchandise. Basically Clear Channel when they purchased Bill Graham Presents decided to divest themself of a warehouse full of old t-shirts, merchandise, ticket stubs etc, posters. A very prudent entrepreneur bought the whole lot in auction and then discovered the highly valuable recordings as part of the lot. Just imagine if it ended up in the hands of Clear Channel. I love that they sold it for so cheap. There's also like Nirvana and more contemporary stuff so it has an almost inestimable value.
  19. No MarcO Carrot Top was at the WSP show.
  20. M. Ward was playing some dates with Jennie Watson and Jim James solo lately. The guys a monster. Like Iron and Wine without being so lullabye or something.
  21. I really get the logic that how can Layton spout about the multicultural mosaic and you have a guy who happens to have been born in Europe and is staunchly devoted to his self-identified Canadian (and Quebecois) citizenship - how can you slag him.
  22. That is awesome M. Ward and Tony Scherr. Tony really gets around (Rick Moranis, Chris and Kate, Bill Frisell, on and on...). I'm really surprised more people around here don't listen to M. Ward around here. The guy is fabulous from the Transgressions of Vincent up to Post War.
