  1. Layton I found these remarks to do with this article on Stillepost and found them right on.
  2. It's funny about the last thing I said to Marc. Actually it was the last thing before I left Pepper Jack's had to do with Larry David. Marc was up in the green room just chilling out checking his cell phone and I asked if he needed anything of whatever. He just said he was 'getting out of the muck and the mire'. It cracked me up because it was obviously a reference to the third season of Curb You Enthusiasm when Larry invests in a restaurant. They're days away from opening and have no chef and Larry's more concerned with installing splash guards between the urinals. The other investors say 'we're really in the mire here' and Larry turns to Jeff saying 'well are we in the muck too, I mean if we're in the mire presumably there's also muck' - the clarification greatly concerns Larry. Sounds so much like the Slip these days. Things falling down around their heads and they want to clarify whether they're in both the muck AND the mire.
  3. I wonder if Kevin Breit's on it. I get the sense they don't work together any more.
  4. Douchebaggery. What is it with myopic vision, kindling physiques and fashion frames in the indie rock crowd?
  5. I think Brad's assessment is sound. I'm just wondering the sick/blow off breakdown. It just seems lame and makes you wonder what went down. I'm looking I guess for conjecture or something.
  6. Look I'm all for kicking people when they're down but fuck. I mean I think the Ferrell line is hilarious but let's take a peak behind the velvet rope into Ferrell, Affleck, DiCaprio and the rest of the fucking room at the GQ Men's dinner and I think you pretty much see a picture of infidelity, depravity, abuse, alcoholism, usery and snorting coke of hooker's clits. But because this is a young trainwreck of a woman, and because of the latent misogyny in our culture, she just looks better while going off the tracks. It seems that simple to me. Whoopdeefuckingdoo. You mean she's a teen alcoholic! You mean she has more fucking money than she knows what to do with and she goes out and she drinks AND dances. What a fucking mess. Does anyone remember Warren fucking Beatty. Christ. It looks like she's got a bandaid over her wrist and while I thought the cutting or bruising was debatable it may be another poor coping mechanism. You can see where the former vice president came up to her at an event and offered to give her some advice and she just took it too far. It all seems pretty simple and basic to me and again if not for the blatant pedophilia in our culture none of this would be a story.
  7. I'm seriously interested to know more about what people think went down with the Feathers though. I get the sense they're just fuck up kids and that maybe they were smoking the Steve Earle holed up in a shooting gallery. Nice visual at least.
  8. I'm sure that everyone who has seen me lately has noticed that I'm much more tame than before. As much as religion hasn't been my thing in the past, finding God has been the most enlightening experience that has ever happened to me. Even if you don't go to church on a regular basis, I encourage you all to cleanse your sins with the word of God and seek Jesus--and your soul will be saved. God bless.
  9. The thing with the merch and not having it on hand seems to be in part not wanting to get dinged for all the taxes at the border. At least that's what they said which makes some sense. That said in terms of the Slip piece of things it seems like they can never get all their oars going in the same direction.
  10. I'm glad you got the gig no doubt but what fucking gives. I sense they just must not have wanted to travel for so little money or something but still why commit in the first place. Malamud produced their album so that's the connection to the band but seriously pull it together.
  11. Okay seriously what the fuck was the deal with the Feathers cancelling on all those dates. I was actually in the hotel room with Rubio (tour manager) when the phone call came in that they weren't making it. 'There guy was sick' like head in the toilet. I actually just believed it and thought 'too bad buddies feeling sick'. Then later I realized they called in sick to all the gigs and that if you don't intend to play a show I guess you have to feign some sort of excuse. Unless those guys were holed up in some room not wanting to leave like Steve Earle on crack I can't fathom the excuse. What is so fucking difficult about booking a tour, some openers and having them - I don't know - show up. I really owe Shane particularly an apology which I've already done profusely in person. I truly think all of the fucked up shit surrounding this tour was coming out of the Slip camp. I think the buck stops with them. Seriously I know bands playing in their mom's basement who are seemingly more organized. I mean hell I got paid for a cover story and yet they weren't on the cover. My editor just told me flat out that even with 3 weeks lead time their publicist just couldn't get adequite images to him. That was just one example. I also realized that Kill The Lights and The Slip have the same Canadian agent and that The Slip had no awareness of the group prior to the Guelph date. That says to me that the agent wanted to double up on the commission and sell two bands off his roster. Fortunately Kill The Lights were complimentary and I quite liked them but that seemed to be largely coincidental. I guess the lesson I've learned from the Slip is tough love. Goes both ways. Unless I'm totally confused, and I'm sure there's more to some of this, I really think the Lovely Feathers should be fucking boycotted by our scene and that they should be, well, tarred and feathered for this classless shit.
  12. It'll definitely go til 2:15. The bar let's them play at least that late, and well, I'm not letting them off the stage.
  13. I bet that's an accurate number. They typically play two sets say 1:15-30 each. Maybe a shorter second set. I don't think the back room of the Cameron, presuming that's where they play, typically stays open that late.
  14. As a community we really should support this band. Bear in mind the Drake gig is a lounge gig hence no singing from their maniacal frontman. These guys have a great repertoire of originals and a whack of cool treatments of for instance gangsta rap covers. They definitely should be taken under our wing.
  15. TV On The Radio deserves to be on the list.
  16. It's actually sort of a nice picture of both of them.
  17. So it was something like that then.
  18. There's GOT to be a reason they changed their name. Either - they got all the hype they were going to get out of the Pilate name (they seemed to get a lot of coverage for a while), or someone left the band hence it's a new band, or they wanted to rebrand the band. More dark Radiohead less Coldplay-Lite.
  19. I've seen Pilate live a couple of times and very not impressed. Like Coldplay-Lite. Maybe the album's good. Did they change their name? Not a good sign I'd think.
  20. I like 29 too. Whatever don't worry about the guy. He's lost and he's found. He's more found than lost. Eccentricity is a ruse.
