  1. That's not a terribly surprising price tag really. Collector's/signature lines are usually pretty pricey.

The new Trey Martin is listed somewhere in the $5500 US range - they'll make more than 30 of those I'm sure.

Then again, I'd pay for a Martin over an Ibanez any day of the week...

  2. I too think by speaking (or writing as the case were).

Everyone has their own style of reaching conclusions and it partly shapes how they engage in debates/conversations.

I will happily change my point of view if I'm convinced I'm wrong. But, it has to be a well argued case to get me there...

  3. I'm guessing here, but I imagine they had a specific project in mind in advance of doing IT. And, it was just falling through with the concept.

They probably weren't thinking about releasing a film with the BC footage when putting together the festival.

They way I read MG's comments it seems BC would happen before Coventry - people are already very interested in doing it...

    $0.02

  4. Hux,

I'm surprised - would you rather see the $1 Billion transferred to the province of Ontario go to even fewer already wealthy people (you'd need to be to wade through the red tape and purchase private vending licenses that would undoubtedly be a part of privatization).

The LCBO is the single largest purchaser of alcohol in the world - yup - THE WORLD. The LCBO offers a pretty incredible array of product that you may, but likely would not get in privatized stores.

I think the taxes on alcohol are a little over the top but I don't have an issue with well paid middle management. I'd rather see the wealth spread around than feeding into the investment portfolio of some rich guy.

  5. Sodexho, as far as I can tell is an industrial type catering firm. They have the cafeteria contract at my office. I've never heard of them outside of this context.

If you're moving somewhere for food - don't come to Ottawa. The restaurant scene here is WEAK.

There are two killer french restaurants in Chelsea - l'Oree du Bois and Les Fougeres. You have to be fully bilingual for either. I can guarantee the $$ there would be killer.

There are 'cool' places to go eat and have a drink but the food is usually unremarkable and overpriced (with a few exceptions, I'm sure - although I have yet to find them).

You could have fun working at any number of bistro type restaurants around Ottawa. I wouldn't call any of them fine dining though.

Then again, I'm a food snob.

  6. "It is good, that you enlighten people about Harry Potter, because those are subtle seductions, which act unnoticed and by this deeply distort Christianity in the soul, before it can grow properly."

Interesting. I hadn't heard about this. Any idea what the subtle seductions are he's writing about?

  7. I didn't realize the RCs had such a problem with Potter. Is it the idea of fantasizing about 'magic' that is so offensive? Strange.

I, too, dig on the Potter. I'll wait until I can borrow it from a friend or the library though... I'm a cheap-ass.
