  1. What tune would you like to see the Allmans play that they don't usually?

:) I personally dig the ABB a bunch and have seen them 10-15 times over the years. However my one beef is that they don't vary thier setlists egnough.

So what song/rarity do you wanna hear?

I want to hear PEGASUS. They never play that!

  2. I remeber when I was in high school, in Mississauga circa 1991-1996 I was the only hippy kid in shool.

All my friends were listening to hard music like Corosion of Conformity, Type-O Negative and other Metal. They used to laugh at the fact I liked the Dead and didn't get why I would sneak off on tour to places like Buckeye Lake, The Richfield Colliseum, Deer Creek and The Palace of Auburn Hills. They couldn't understand why I'd go see a full tours worth of shows?

I look back on those years and think they were the best investment I ever made at a young age. Jerry and the Dead helped me grow up street smart, open minded and opened my teenaged mind to a world of sophistaced music beyond my years.

I will be forever in his and thier debt.

Without them I never would have "got it". I would have never gone on to study jazz and improvisation and got a degree. I would have never seen the beauty in a sparkling clean guitar riff or an old forgotten folk song. I would have never seen beyond the obvious.

I count myself luck that I was able to see the 25 or so Grateful Dead shows I did and grab a piece of the magic. Sometimes they seem like a dream.

Thank you Jerry for everything. Never could have done it without you.

P.S. I am still heart broken over those Skydome shows that never happened. I was looking forward to finally showing all my local firends what I had been doing all this time in the states. :(

  3. I agree. Toronto is really lacking/lame in the Jerry/Dead appriciation department.

No tribute nights or anything. Just ROCK Rock and more Rock oh and though in some bad commerical dance music to boot.

I love the city but the music scene is hurting.....for support that is.

High Plains Drifter is a funky jazz, worldbeat, latin, reggae, blues and ambient ensemble. We're a jam band in the sense we do not stick to a 'genre' we swtich it up from Santana like instrumentals to folky singer/songwriter, from reggae arrangements of jazz standards to blissed out world beat excursions. come check us out brah!

You're saying Brah now. You've been watching too much Dog the Bounty hunter.

  5. Good point ! Never thought of that. I'll do that next time. And besides I'm saving my pennies and dimes for the upcoming tour and promo that will go along with that. I'm sure for that we'll be paying Bouche for a banner or something.

THANKS TO ALL FOR TOLERATING MY SHAMELESS POSTS. THE SHOW IS TOMORROW. AND THEN THE BUMPING OF THIS THREAD WILL CEASE.
