  1. Wow! How degrading is that. Not only are you stripping, which basically turns you into a piece of meat, but now you're stripping open air on dirt/grass floors for capatalist hippies.

Why don't they just go one step further and start pimping. If you're gonna whore it out go all the way.

So bad for the scene. I can't believe this went unchecked!

I was at Bonnaroo 2003 and 2004 and I never saw any of this.

Why can't everybody just stick to selling nitrous and hallucinegenic drugs, like the good old days.

    Who's got my self-respect?

  2. The dude in the camo gear NEVER gets old...

I know what you mean. Sometimes even during the set I'll look over at Snappy for some reason and almost laugh and screw up whatever I'm playing.

    Sure keeps it fun.

  3. Hubert Sumlin is playing with Levon Helm.

Holy fuck!!! He's one of the great lead blues guitarists.

Here's a partial list of artists he's worked with:

Howlin' Wolf ( he's on many of Wolf's classic recordings )

    Muddy Waters

    Elmore James

    Jimmy Reed

    Willie Dixon

    James Cotton

    Pinetop Perkins

    Sonny Boy Williamson

COULD NOT AGREE MORE $100 IS A BARGIN TO SEE A LIVING BLUES LEGEND LIKE HUBERT SUMLIN. I JUST MIGHT HAVE TO GO NOW! WOW!

  4. NEW ADDITION MORE TO COME!

    CHAMELEON PROJECT

    Toronto Ont.

Jazz, jungle, disco, funk, dub, techno…it’s all about a groove. What keeps it engaging is improvisation. It keeps changing. It never stops. It’s at the heart of all great music…and it’s in the DNA of the members of the Chameleon Project (CP).

CPs guitarist Josh Laing says the band is about using the musical tools pioneered by the masters of the past, to create progressive and distinct music for the future. “We’re all trained jazz musicians who’ve been heavily influenced by groove-oriented music of everyone from Art Blakey and Charlie Parker to James Brown and The Meters, to Lee Scratch Perry, Amon Tobin and the most frenetic drum and bass and free jazz..”

The band has tuned into the growing audience that appreciates a wide range of improvised styles from classic straight ahead jazz to the propulsive rhythms of electronic music. The band is not afraid to take chances night after night and brings loyal followers wherever they play

Well, there it is our funky breakbeat dub-jazz jazztronic asses have been added to the Evolve line up! Can't wait to kick ass and take names....musically that is.

  5. I would just like to chime in and say we otta give the Inchworm fellas and organizers of Evolve a break.

They all work really hard and the logistics and bookings of such a festival in the middle of nowhere in Canada no less makes it tough to get US acts/headliners to confirm.

I understand from the concert goers perspective(I am a heavily traeveled one myself) , that not knowing what's up makes it hard to plan your concert vacation.

Problem is..at least in my humble view that Antigonish NS, is not exactly a huge market that demands immediate attention from larger US bands.

The reasons festivals in the states like High Sierra, All Good, 10,000 Lakes, Gathering of the Vibes etc... get many large acts and announce way ahead of time, is that they have the numbers (30,000-60,000 or more vs. 3,000-5,000 at Evolve) and are the markets these bands want to play in first for exposure and $.

I'm sure the headliners that Evolve would like to get, make them wait until all thier summer plans are finalized, as Evolve is not a priority in the grand scope of things.

I personally think it's amazing they get any larger name acts up there at all, considering the distance, the expense and hassel of crossing the border as a US (or foriegn band) and the fact that Evolve is a tertiary market at best for many US bands.

Cut 'em some slack. You know they're tryin'.

    My 2 cents

  7. Ha! Excellent picture chameleon. But a white sport jacket as the example of how NOT to wear it is way too easy..everyone knows damn well that those things should be burned.

Let's look at how NOT to wear hip-hop clothing shall we?

    Exhibit A: Pimple my ride

    BMride1.jpg

Exhibit B: I love many sports that I'm not good at...and I'm also nuts.

    serious.jpg

    Exhibit C: What's your sign?

    redneck.jpg

Conclusion: White guys and Fubu mix like oil and water. or white blazers and anyone.

Of course you know I'm not serious about it. I'm interested in your band and wish to subscribe to your newsletter. Just so you're clear I'm neither a racist nor a proponent of bad blazers. But I'm not sure why you find them offensive..except that you don't wear them. And what do dreadlocks have to do with rock n'roll anyway? When did all this shallowness fall in on a Herbie Hancock cover band? And when are you going to shoot a new band photo so chumps like me don't continue to have trouble connecting the dots between your music and that dude in the army get-up?

And when can we start a discussion on the idiocy of the bowler hat in 2005?

    --------------------------------------------------

OK OK. FIRST THINGS FIRST. IT's ALL LOVE AND JOKES! NOT TO WORRY POLKAROO.

It's just that I live right in the heart of clubland in downtown T.O. and I see throngs of clueless knobs from the suburbs walking around in blazers, sporting thier faux-hawk haircuts with frosted tips and it makes me insane. And because of balzer supporters like Kanye West, John Mayer and many others everyone is jumping on the blazer bandwagon.

Now, I agree with you full heartedly that hip-hop fashion is terrible and need to be delt with as well.

I guess you can say I was scarred by the blazers as a child by my fatehr's fashion indescretions and now in my twenties the resugence of the blazer style has opened old wounds.

...but I think I can say that blazers when used in moderation are....OK. There I said.

LET'S BUILD A BLAZER BRIDGE TO PEACE!!!!

I'm also happy you dig the band, please link up with us on our web-site www.chameleonproject.com

here are two more pictures of the band. The guy witht he camo is Sanppty Homefry. He's the bassist, and yes that is the only name he is known by. I think that in itself explains his gear.

    All-jokes.jpgChameleonProfilin.jpg

P.S. You're right there is nothing rock'n'roll about drealocks. I have 'em and I don't even play rock. Rock'n'roll just sound good in describing an attitude. Not the music literally.,

    I'm more of a jazz/rare-funk & disco, dub guy.

By the way I like your Joe Pass avatar.

I apologize to all the blazerities I offended.

This guy knows how to rock a blazer..

    TTMCS05.jpg

    Slick Rick is so tough

  8. Wow! I had no idea everyone was so touchy on John Mayer and Blazers.

First of all. If John Mayer is going to streach the boundries and jam out great! I applaud him. He is certainly professional, I just don't dig his middle of the road whiteboy vocals and repetative pentatonic soloing.

I hope I am proved wrong and he releases some mind bending trio work. Although I highly doubt it.

Now as for the whole blazer thing I will make no apologies. We all should have learned our lesson when our fathers, were wearing blazers in the 80's during the Miami Vice days.

He'll even Jerry was wearing a blazer from time to time, circa 1985. And that was a the height of his opium/heroin phase when he didn't know which end was up, just before he got busted. Not a coinsidence.

Repeat after me: THERE IS NOTHING ROCK'N'ROLL ABOUT A BLAZER. IT IS THE FASION EQUIVELANT OF

    BEING NEUTERED.

    kermit_vice.jpg

The Blazer crew is really gona snap now! Biatch!

It's all jokes. Or at least the blazers are! HA HA!

  9. I am a devoted Phish/Deadhead but I also love Jimmy Buffett and his brand of good time beach-bard music.

Jimmy's a true original and under appricated with a rabid fan base.

I'll be there representing the pierced-up, blonde-dreaded cyber-hippie contingent. I'll be wearing the Steal your Face visor.

"Boat Drinks in Magarittavile!!!!!" I'm gonna get juiced!!!
