i mean really...pretty soon they will be selling hillside tickets in a hushed voice in the alley behind the hillside offices, but only if you know the secret handshake and the first verse of the Stonecutters theme.

    arrgh.

  2. stephen fearing wrote a tune called "bells of morning" (mourning?) that's on his blue line LP. my first introduction to sf was on the cbc. they interviewed him about the album, then played that song. it made me cry. still does sometimes. the whole mess makes me sad...14 women snuffed out in the prime of life by a guy with an axe to grind....

  3. I just went with Bell as an ISP. I'm keeping my fingers crossed but I ordered a week ago and it looks like another week before i'm surfing high speed... so here I type via dial-up.

Anyways.... Does anybody here use Usenet/newgoups? I'm really thinking of going that way. I hear they're a lot safer and fast as hell.

bell recently changed their Usenet. they have outsourced it, and are making you pay for usenet bandwidth.

and hey AD, one of my coworkers got the same harangue from Rogers for Bittorrenting a PC game.

    here's the thread.

  4. i've always found the globe to be a bit schizophrenic. half the time they are on the left of a given debate, but then when the editorial staff let loose, they come across as tighty righties.

terence corcoran comes to mind. i try not to read his columns, they angry up my blood.

  5. i like him simply because the US dislikes him, and he seems to be a genuine populist. however, the term limits thing scares me too. of course, if he does turn out to be delivering on his promises and truly taking care of people who need him, and they want to show their approval by handing him his job every 4 years, maybe that's not so bad.

  6. hey matty' date=' check out this YouTube link.

Cool shit. Thanks for that. Nordine does some interesting stuff for sure. Colors is a lot of fun.

Got to see Nordine come out and "jam" a little with the Dead in Chicago (93? 92?) Did "Fliberty Jib".

    Later . . .

    Kanada Kev =8)

that's where i learned about ken nordine. david gans had ken on the show & played some of the live "fliberty jib" along with his new(er) album, "devout catalyst" that featured jerry and david grisman among others.

i haven't thought about that in ages. thanks!
