Now, if this fest was being held somewhere much more rural where people had little or no access to actual real-live touring famous musicians, well then this fest might be a winner.

This sort of thing has “Truro” written all over it.

Then again, a smaller market might have more per capita interest, but would it have the sheer numbers to support it?

Also, from a quick look it appears that all of the acts are represented by the same agency. I’m not sure what that means, if anything, but I found it interesting. The company has a huuuuuuuuge roster of tribute acts:

    Booking House Inc.

  2. Thumbs up, all around.

I preferred the previous venue,  but have really come to enjoy the site and layout of Cityfolk, especially now that they’ve figured out how to make the indoor stage feel more intimate and club-like.

  3. I wish them well, I really do.

But I’m having a hard time figuring what their target demographic is. “Serious” music fans aren’t likely to be tempted, and I don’t know that the classic rock radio crowd will be motivated to get out for it. Maybe for one or two of these bands in a bar for ten or fifteen bucks, but for a full day or weekend at a festival site? I don’t know.

But hey, like I just said elsewhere, if a bunch of Supertramp fans want to stand around in a field for three days, God bless ‘em.

    What You talkin' Bout?!?

Nostalgia Festival. August 24th - 26th at Lebreton Flats (for the out-of-towners, that’s where Bluesfest is). Tributes to Petty, The Hip, The Stones (Blushing Brides), Fleeteood Mac, Madonna, Bob Marley, Elton John / Billy Joel, Rush, Queen, Clapton and more.

Can’t say I’ve Ever heard of such a thing, but I wish them well.

I don't know but my guess is that the stage would be set up like it used to be at Bluesfest, facing east?

That was first assumption as well, although the only times I can remember a stage being there for events in the past few years (post-Bluesfest) it was at the other end facing west. Although none of those were the size of Jazzfest. We shall see.

Just got my pass and noticed that they are moving the stages around this year. Maybe trying to keep the park from getting destroyed? The main stage will be in front of City Hall and the tent will be behind it in that field where Bluesfest used to have a side stage. Also, Chaka Khan has been added.

They still haven't uploaded the site map to their website, sooooo question for you (or anyone else who has seen one):

Which way does the main stage face? Is it set up at the Canal end of Marion Dewar Plaza, facing west? Or will it be set up closer to the courthouse and face east? I've seen both configurations for concerts on that lawn, and the location of the stage will likely impact my ticket buying.

Given that my office overlooks the plaza in front of City Hall, this could be a very good thing. For me.

Well ticketmaster has sunk to a new low.

$20 extra for an aisle seat in the lower levels.

Is that a twenty dollar extra service charge, or twenty dollar extra face value of the ticket? Because TM would be responsible for the former but not the latter.

Ha I'm only a little ways in (pesky work keeps diverting me)....so that line of writing keeps going eh? ;)

Must have been a huge let down for him. From what I can tell that project has been abandoned?

Yeah, he circled back to it throughout. It’s a pesky distraction but not enough to ruin the book. Plus it’s really clear that he wrote the book himself without a ghostwriter (at least it sure seems that way) which is refreshing.

    And no, Pono didn’t last:

Ya thanks for flagging this. I'm reading Neil's Waging Heavy Peace right now so this will be a nice complement

Ya mean the three-hundred page ad for Pono?

    Kidding!

    Kind of.

I did like the book, though. And for some reason I keep it on a shelf in my office surrounded by legal texts. Trying to keep it real, I guess.

Happy to see Lake Street Dive back on board.  Obviously they will be a main stage act this year after packing the tent in 2014.  Who are all these other people playing anyway?

And a killer set at Cityfolk last year.

    This is a great lineup.
