I bet Twiddle gets an undercard spot.

    Damn you. Damn you hard.

I bet tickets are 500 bucks face.

I would think that would be the absolute lowest for three days, without camping. Hell, face for some tickets for the Stones alone has been more than that on recent arena shows. I'm sure face value on high-end VIP packages would soar into the five figures, or at least close to it.

  2. So this would be quite the event. At first I thought it was a leftover April Fools' Day post, but it's being run in some pretty legit media. One can only imagine the price tag on tickets.

Six titans of rock music – the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, the Who and Roger Waters – are reportedly in the finishing stages of joining together in October for an epic three-day concert in Indio, California. Goldenvoice, the organizers of the Coachella Music Festival, are in talks to bring the six Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees to the fest's Empire Polo Field site on October 7th through 9th, the Los Angeles Times reports.

I saw a mailout that says Bob will be playing a 45 minute to one hour set "with accompanying musicians" so there ya go.

$200 is too much for me.  That said I am quite happily surprised that Bobby has decided to cross the border again after his Ottawa Bluesfest fiasco.  Hope to see him (w/ Mayer or Phil?) in Canada again some time, at a reasonable price.

Fiasco? Details? I vaguely recall hearing something at the time, and the setlist is heavy on getting it from the man, but I can't remember what the issue was.

  4. Looks cool. And I have to say that even though I've enjoyed Jambase's "Songs of Their Own" video series, I'm glad this project isn't just the usual suspects when it comes to Dead tributes. The likes of John Popper and Reid Genauer are great and all, but I'm all for Dead covers by artists that aren't a big part of "the scene"

the seamless sets with GTB were also big highlights.

I lived out East from '99-'04 and was really into to both bands while I was out there. That said, I never loved the seamless sets. It was a cool idea, but after seeing it done once I found it was a novelty that detracted from the show. Personally, I would have rather seen each band play one, two-hour set than the two, one-hour sets, which is what the seamless set shows entailed if I recall correctly. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed them, but would have been fine had they stuck with a more conventional setup.

But yeah, glad to see JSB back at it for another run. Man I had some great times at those shows, and it was fun to see them explode regionally and get some recognition nationally during their peak years. I doubt that they'll make it as far as Ontario this time around, but hopefully some recordings make it out.

Sad to say, but you could not pay me to go and see Dylan again... He's so far past useful, it's painful.

I don't entirely agree. His band is still great, and it can be fun to see his current arrangements of songs you know well in their original forms. I've seen him four times, I think, and while I'm not chomping at the bit to see him again, I wouldn't turn down the opportunity.

  7. Pretty stacked as far as this scene goes, and I say that as someone who has never been into Ween. Late night JRAD after Phish would be a ton of fun.

On the whole, it's reminiscent of the first few years of Bonnaroo and the only two years of Rothbury. It's not going to cater to a wide demographic, but if this is what you're into it's one-stop shopping and should be pret-ty pret-ty pret-ty good.

Edit to add: I still think that Twiddle is just a performance art piece by Brooklyn hipsters that has gotten way out of hand.
