I agree, although A-Rod and Matsui stumbled with their bats down the stretch.

Interesting: Matsui is now a free-agent.

My prediction: Jays get on him like white on rice. He'll sign for billions and play really shitty for us. Well, not shitty, just not up to everyone's expectations.

Anywhere he goes he will have big things expected of him. True, he's talented, but in a different line up it'll be interesting to see how his numbers compare.

  2. By real time, I mean, the plays are written out as the game goes on. Sorry if I mis-lead you. You dont actually see the plays. Instead, it goes something like this:

17:43 - McCabe ices the puck.

17:56 - Ribiero scores on a shot off the draw.

Its like listening to the game on the radio, but your reading it instead. If my memory serves me correctly you can do it from nhl.com, or the team's official site. Like I said, it kinda sucks, but its better than nothing.

You may also want to try a local pub that carries the sports package. If its slow, they probably wouldnt mind playing the game for you. I dont know what time it would be in England though...

  3. They have an awesome team that underachieved all year. When they picked it up towards the end I thought they'd have as good a chance as any. (How could a team with A-rod as their 2nd hitter not be a team that could win it all?) In the end it comes down to pitching, though, and the Angels had their number there.

  4. Oh man, thats rough. I remember living like that in B.C. and watching games in real time on the net. Boo!! No fun for anyone. I feel your pain brother...

If its any consolation though, you probably get just as much Hab coverage as I do, and Im in southern Ontario!

  5. I was hoping for a Chara-Lindros ruble last night...

    Lindros isnt stupid...

...Maybe if Quinn didnt' put slow-poke Allison in there the Leafs would've had a chance..

I dont get it either. Stajan has quick hands and can score from in close. Kaberle, while a defenceman, is the same. And why hasnt someone with a mamoth shot not just wound up from the circle and slapped the fuck out of one yet?

  6. By all accounts James sounds like a good guy. Swirski had a commentater from Houston say so, as well as a guy from the Knicks. Apparently Houston needs Alston just to stay as offensive as the rest of their conference. They think he will fit well with McGrady and Ming. Thats at least what they say anyway...

..For what its worth, I base most of my player knowledge on video games, and James aint half bad in 2005....

  7. If you get an X-Box you can have a computer-nerd friend rig it so you can download and play just about any Sega, Sega Genesis, Nintendo, SNES, N64 game ever inevented. Particularily fun is Super Spike V-Ball with four players. Plus, you can rent X-Box games and burn 'em.

  8. George Benson - Oh Darlin'

Jeff Beck - A day in the life

Once, I heard this guy from Hornby Island in B.C do a killer rendition of "Everybodys got somethin to hide..." you had to really listen hard to figure out what song it was, but once you did, wow!!

  9. I see it all the time. The team that wins home ice advantage in the playoffs often loses one of the first two at home. Then they head back to the weaker teams Arena for two more, while the weaker team rides the momentum to win another game, possibly two.

Id like to see that reversed, ie, the lower seeded team plays the first two at home, then three at the stronger team's rink, then switch it up for the final two, with the higher ranking team getting home ice for game 7.

Baseball is even worse, as all the visiting team has to do is win one on the road and then they get three at home. Doesnt make sense to me.

  10. I have a confession. I am both, (cough), a Leaf fan, AND, a Habs fan. I love em both, but when it comes down to it, I cheer Habs when the two collide. Therefore, I take all the Leafs bashing to heart. Especially from Sens fans. Untill they win a series against the Leafs, make that FOUR, they should really just keep their opinions to themselves. Cuz, well, as I said before, its just all the more sad and pathetic when you lose to us. Heck, I think were all ready to concede a series just so you guys dont quit outright and join a co-ed curling league. Plus, we need you during the regular season to keep our more important opponents in-check.

  11. Go to a Jays-Yanks game, in Toronto, when the YAnks are in a pennant race - you'll have a blast.

Get really drunk and talk baseball with all the Yankee fans. If your like me, you'll appreciate their knowledge of the game and leave with a smile on your face, no matter the outcome. (Unless of course the Jays are in said pennant race.)

(Dont make the mistake of thinking it would be a good idea to start a Yankees Suck chant - the lot of them are huge fellas, who are probably just as drunk as you and not nearly as understanding).

That being said, I urge you, as a sports fan, to do this if you havent already.

When the ball game ends walk across the street to the Beer Store west of Jarvis and pick up whatever ails ya. Proceed to walk and drink your way to the amphitheatre for whatever concert happens to fall on the same day.

On this particular day, its JAck Johnson. Shop around for face-value tickets in a sea of obsessed booty willing to shell out 1, 2 hundred bucks for the same seats. Find someone who hooks you up.

Go inside and drink more ridiculously over-priced alcohol, lose your buddy, and meet someone who hands you a card and says, call me Ill hook you up. PLAce card in pocket and wait untill morning to read it.

Continue drinking your face off and fraternizing with the riff-raff untill concert ends and you go home.

Wake up and realise the card in your pocket was from a guy that works with the JAys who only wants to hook a brother up with some great seats to your fav team. Smile. You just had a great day at the park.

  12. this seems like some kind of cheap marketing tactic....directed towards arseholes.

    Bingo.

Also, why does anybody believe that the weaker teams wont play even more defensively in this new system?

And, im not sure about this, maybe one of you guys know, but doesnt no red line mean that a puck can be dumped from further away without it being called for icing?
