  1. Politics is just a wrod. It represents differences in feelings people have towards one another, or certain things.

So where do you draw the line, then, on dubbing something, "political"? Beats me.

The guy from Cold Play once said something like this: it makes way more sense to write love songs, cuz just about everyone can relate to them, but when you touch on politics, you run the risk of alienating a prospective fan-base.

  2. Anyone paying attention to this? Man, what a race! The A.L. should be exciting too. Any bets on winners? Ill put a million paper clips on the Nats just cuz they used to be the Expos. In the A.L. I think its the Yanks to lose, which I hope they do, but probably wont...go tribe...word.

  3. Everyone knows the team is weak this year, and I respect the fact that he respects my intelligence enough to not come up with some lame cliche to try to win me over. Im already a fan.

I hear him on Swirskis show all the time and he doesnt come off as a public relations nightmare. He uses terms like, "Re-Building", "Exciting young talent", and what-have-you. Not to mention the article your refering to was written in the Sun under a bold Headline that said "We're Doomed: GM". If it said, "Bright Future for Raps: GM" people probably wouldnt even have read it.

  4. Toronto Raptors general manager Rob Babcock doesn't have high expectations in terms of wins this season.

Because of the influx of young players on the roster, the second-year GM doesn't expect the club to improve on it's 33-49 record from last season.

''There will be growing pains, no doubt about it,'' Babcock told the paper. ``Whether we win or lose more games than last year, I think if you look at us on paper, we probably will not win as many games as last year.

''We more or less have the same team back with the exception of Donyell Marshall, who was an integral part of our team last year. We're replacing him with rookies.''

He was just being honest. In my perfect sports world they'd all be sounding off like him, Roenick and Hull. But if people dont want to be told the truth, so be it.

  5. Holy crap, didnt touch my computer for maybe three days, most likely two, and it appears Ive missed some important stuff. My own fault I suppose. Ive emailed a couple of people who picked before me to see if I can still be in, but Im off to Izzy's right now (priorities, ya know?)and wont be able to hear back from them. If i cant be in, good luck everyone, and sorry, I really didnt mean to screw around.

And no, your trash talk did not scare me away. I hear better smack from the elderly I play bocci with the second saturday of every month.

  6. Someone needs to make this their avatar:

Ya, a Leaf fan to remind them that no matter how large their opponent, if he's in a Sens sweater, they can still win a playoff series no matter how many geriatric, concussed, or extremely small players with bulbous heads, they may have.

  7. Funny story about a guy I played with from Japan. He said that after each game the players would line up side by side, on their knees, facing their coach. The coach would then walk down the line and SLAP any player who he felt played a poor game or made a mistake! Thats how you build a winner!

  8. Couldnt agree more about missing Delgado. Ive been saying it all year too. What irks me the most is that they said they couldnt afford him, got rid of him, and then annonced how rich they will be for the next few seasons! Then, they realize throughout this season the importance of a solid RBI and homerun guy, who, like Booche says, makes the 3 and 5 hitters much better. So now they're talking about picking someone up in the off-season to fill the void, but admit there wont be much to choose from. Doesnt anyone else find this all completely rediculous? To me its simple: if you have someone like Delgado who actually WANTS to play in Toronto you keep him, pay him whatever the feck he wants and count your lucky stars that he's not like the majority of professional Athletes who generally prefer to stay in the lower 48 (Hockey Players excluded, naturally). They screwed themselves by letting him go, and in turn we the fans get screwed by having to watch our favorite team suffer through the realities of being a small ball team, that never really executes the "small ball," game.

  9. Picked this movie up a while ago from Wal-Mart for about $6. It chronicles the lives of Jackie Robinson, Satchel Paige, and Josh Gibson, the year before Robinson cracked the bigs. Its a really cool look at the politics behind the Dodgers choice for the first Black man in the majors. If you want an interesting baseball movie, this one is definately it. Also, a fascinating fact revealled at the end of the flick is that Josh Gibson hit something like 972 homeruns in his career in the Negro-leagues! Yowsers!
