  2. Dave and I are making our own beer battered fish tonight, any tips from those who have done this before?
  3. since I've been sending Dave out back we've had little trouble with the local groundhog in our garden.
  4. maybe get Mike to pee around the yard to mark his territory and then the raccoons may not come around as much. I did read this in a gardening book.
  5. Has anyone done this before? Any tips?
  6. good call Sharon, we've all won the lottery with Lynny in our lives. Happy birthday sexy lady.
  7. happy birthday dirty old man you know I love ya.
  8. for a first time urban gardener… I’ll take any advice you want to pass along (preferably organic) So far I’ve added manure and egg shells to the soil. Planted some thyme, chives basil, cherry tomatoes, and carrots. My plan is to add some regular tomato plants, cucumber and perhaps a variety of peppers. I’ve been reading lots about companion gardening, hence the basil and carrots with my tomatoes. I’ve also read about hair clippings and old shoes to keep animals at bay. Any more tips.

    walkscore

This is an neat little tool to find out how "walkable" different communities are. http://www.walkscore.com/
  11. perhaps community centres could help organize community watch/maintenance type groups to help keep parks clean/safe once they are built/cleaned up. I suppose I'm getting a little off topic and maybe some already do this.
  12. The Sommerset West Community Centre may have idea's for that area I mentioned.
  13. I bet Community centres would have great idea's for you-they know lots about neighborhood needs. I'd love to see some more safe play space in the Rochester/ /Gladestone/Eccles area. I'm not sure if there is space anywhere near there available. We always used to see kids just playing in the street around that old Loab (hey I wonder what if that land is up for grabs). There is a housing complex (I guess it could even be Minto) in that area that doesn’t seem to have much of a play area., and I’m sire if there is one it could use some uplifting.

    Crock Pot

potatoes do often take awhile in the crockpot, a trick is to place them at the bottom underneth any meat, or cut them smaller. and don't forget this recipe Crockpot Roast Sticky Chicken 4 tsp. salt 2 tsp. paprika 1 tsp. cayenne pepper 1 tsp. onion powder 1 tsp. thyme 1 tsp. white pepper 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 1/2 tsp. black pepper 1 large roasting chicken, make sure it will fit in your size crockpot 1 cup chopped onion In small bowl, thoroughly combine all spices. Clean chicken well and remove giblets. Pat dry with paper towels. Rub the spice mixture into the chicken, both inside and out, making sure it is evenly distributed and down deep into the skin. Place in a resealable plastic bag, seal and refrigerate overnight. When ready to cook put the chopped onion inside the chicken then put it in the crockpot and do not add any liquid. As the cooking process goes on the chicken will produce it's own juices. Cook on low 8-10 hours( high 5-6). The chicken will be falling off the bones. My additions garlic cloves inside the chicken carrots under the chicken broiled the chicken for the last 5-10 minutes (just to brown the skin a little)
  16. happy birthday sexy lady...I'm gonna smootch you up good today.
  17. mmmm...dill pickles and olives are awsome in Ceasers.
  18. The one I'm drinking right now tastes grrreat, I'm using the spicy clamato. I have had bad experiences with the Works blend, I enjoy it the first day I open it but can't stand the smell if I try it the next day. I'm not sure if it's the horseradish they put in there or what. I do like putting my own horse radish in them as I make them though.
  19. Holly's pretty excited to see some good music and meet a few new buddy's.
  20. we had those the other day with douglas and booche- deelish!
  21. Not that I don't love meat, but I want to balance our summer meals with some good vegetable sides or even have some main dish bbq vegetables...what are your favs?
