  1. Phillip Morris is just one example... the lists are endless. One is never truly aware of who they're supporting unless you are willing to do some major research before any purchase...

Like I said earlier. Globalization. There is a Coke Canada and Labbatt does make Bud and there are countless other 'imports' that are made in Cnada. Outsourcing. The corporate head office and the processing plant are, nowadays, no longer side by side.

We can all do some good and support local business (e.g. Yarker's Lucky Dollar and Old Bank Cafe, which both kick ass over the likes of Blockbuster/WalMart/Denny's) and Canadian jobs. Those fools in the blue Wal-Mart vests aren't imported from the States you know....

  2. Guess what...globalization...the days of patriotism and World Wars are moot... to stand by a country and pump your fists until you're blue in the face is about as useful and constructive as sticking your elbow in your ear. I love where I live, not because its Canada, but because the people I surround myself with are decent people, the rest I try and ignore or I tailgate them until they go away...

By the way, if ya wanna shop at Home Despot or Squall Mart (which I often do), what the hell. They are stores, not the Anti-Christ and if you think they are, you might wanna peruse that priority list and make some edits... just a thought...

  3. Hey h...

As cool as it sounds, ya gotta wonder when they mention

    the...surviving cast members

. The shows in syndication might rock, but a reunion with a ouple of head stones kinda takes all the fun out of it.

    Maybe its just me

  4. No need to fear The Buds, kids...man I hope dogatthestation ain't readin' this...

It all seems for naught though when the West just sails by whomever survives in the East! Maybe it shouldn't be a matter of bringing Canadian teams up to par with the American squads. I think Bettman should look into some skill transfer from the west to the east...

Ah, crap! I'm livin' in Ontario aren't I? This post ain't gonna make anybody happy I'm sure...

How do you delete these things??...oh no I hit the Add Reply button...

  5. Am I the only one looking at this whole 'beaver' issue in the wrong light? I mean, its not like I'm some sicko pervert (o.k. I'm not some sicko, at least), but the humour factor is there...especially when we're talking about losing one's beaver, etc...

    Man, I'm pathetic...

Why am I the only one chuckling...

  6. I thought that an official local had to dine on the catch o' the day?

Nasty image, I know, but its all in jest...

By the way, how did you get Mr. Beaver into the pickup? Did ya lift 'em, with bare hands and all? If so, how much did the sucka weigh, cuz' those critters are pretty damn hefty!

  8. Any country on the face of this planet has some level of political dissent within its borders. The difference is what level the recalcitrants are willing to take their unrest to. Will it take the form of political vs. political methods, will it escalate to militaristic dissent, will it be an underground propaganda campaign? Fanaticism abounds and any 'protest' is subject to being infected by it. Fanaticism is the worst form of protest as it generally loses touch with the true issues and reality of what is at stake and, worse yet, it is generally practised by only a select few. Not every Palestinian is a suicide-bomber, not every Afghan/Muslim is a member of Al Queda, not every Francophone is with the FLQ.

The Middle East is the problem that it is because of the plain and simple fact that Western views have been imposed on many aspects of life there. Israel is, really, a unilaterally created country. The US/UN dumps weapons and cardboard leaders wherever it can in hopes that they can manufature islands of Western Culture in a sea of multi-culturalism.

Generally, however, I think that people shoot, kill, maim and torture one another for the same reason, no matter who or where they are: They are SCREWED UP! We all have issues, its just a matter of how we want to deal with them...

    Blah, Blah, Blah....

  9. Buying groceries can be one of the most useful ways to express dissent wink.gif" border="0 ...and don't get me going about riding public transit mad.gif" border="0 ...

I don't know about most others here, but I'm so far removed from anything remotely close to 'a day in the life of a Palestinian on the Gaza Strip' that my two cents worth means diddly...

  10. I think yer more than right Beats... its something that any born and bred Canadian (aside from those of aboriginal descent) would have little understanding of. Opression takes many forms and the UN has never been and will never be the best judge of it... take East Timor for example.

  11. quote:

So unfortunately if you don`t like the trap...Blame it on the Flyers for obviously not giving a damn about this series

I, too, hate when someone pisses in my Corn Flakes...

I'm not picking on the Sens...I'm talking about the whole conference...no need to get them knickers in a twist...I'll crawl back under my rock...sorry to offend
