Any more clues...I'm not quite sure what it is, but I think I have an idea...

On a related tangent, anybody tried the Aussie delicacy of Vegemite?!? I dunno what it is and I don't think I want to...tastes kinda good though...

  2. Quite awesome, h! I've strived fruitlessly to get a quality pic of a full moon, but to no avail...

Here is a satellite shot of my favorite natural phenomenon (besides THC)..

even more incredible that it is a shot from outside the atmosphere...

    [Eek!]

  3. The responses are 95% of the fun!

My response is 100% reversed from the order of the QOD...

    B) passed on... he'll always make me close my eyes and wish for a good high...James Douglas Morrison

    A) living... I dunno, Kid Rock? Slim Shady? How 'bout Van Morrison, now there is a completely silken voice (ya know, silk with a little bit of a gravel cover, not unlike Mr. Waits)

I'm sure I'll change my mind a little later in the thread... but what the hell!

  4. Quite right h! Despising a band/ company/ state of mind is of no use...ignoring them on the other hand does a world of good.

I wouldn't ever knock Bono (man, these hokey names... he should just change it back to John Mellon Cougarcamp) for his political participation, but when accompanying glossy pop music, his voice loses some credibility with me. When he does what he does with the G8 and issues of globalization, I'm more than willing to mirror his thoughts. Just don't put them into some dance bar riff...

and seeing as the thread is about them, I'll just say "RadioHead"

    adios

  5. Always thought Radiohead was a band worth some attention, but (being a victim of Attention Deficit Disorder) I was never able to give them a fair shake... I love everything I've heard by them, but haven't heard nearly enuff to give them due credit. I think scottie is right in saying that they can be compared to Floyd. No one will ever replace Floyd, however.

As far as U2 goes, I've always been lyrically drawn to them and I appreciate Edge's simple, yet effective technique but I fell off that bandwagon after Rattle & Hum... their political pretense, mixed with their marketing acquiescence started to get old... then they began dressing up as women (ugly women at that) and catering to the dance bar mentality.

You know, talent walks when money talks.

  6. I dunno, seems like quite astretch to me...

Even though the Starbucks mentality makes my gag-reflex kick in, I think the ad is mostly harmless...

Should we be contacting the Tolkien estate and demanding that they pull the title to the next Lord of the Rings installment??? Not quite the same but people do seem to find fault with just about anything these days.

As far as I'm concerned, two cups filled with some fruity drink mean diddly unless one wants to make it that way.

  7. I can't be bitter... no need, I guess...

The stinkin' inertia in that department made me a little nuts

Although, in hind sight, being a geologist was a pretty damn cool job, too! An unending supply of 'skipping rocks', vast expanses of mirror-smooth Greenlandic lakes and an arm ready for the occasion!

  8. I did (and still do) want to be an astronaut... pretty typical, I know, but just imagine that whole zero-G thing, floating around outside our atmosphere, seeing UFO's and weilding the NASA issued light-sabre....

Now, I'm just some Masters' drop-out (not the golf tourney, the geology post-grad thing) working some job that I have no idea what the hell it is I'm doing...

I also was interested in becoming an NHL superstar, but that Gretzky kid beat me to it...

  9. ya see, I only LogIn from work where the connection is fast & virtually seamless...I guess that maybe one .gif would be better suited for those with the dial-up woes... anyway it goes, I'll like it 'cuz I'm just that easy

you can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't pick your friends nose...

  10. Coupla' tunes for me:

Helpless (NY): Reminds me of the Northern Ontario towns I lived in, catching pike with my dad...very good memories

Give a Little Bit (Supertramp): or any other song by them for that matter... my parents used to crank their tunes all the time (had some 8-tracks, too, but I dunno where they are now)

Rasputin (Boney-M): Man that song rocked in the day! Me and my little brother wore out the Night Flight to Venus LP!

Are Friends Electric (Gary Neuman and the Tube Way Army): Original synth punk, my first cassette! Reminds me of lots of crazy kid times...

I'm rambling...that was fun! Thanks Marco!

  11. Favorite summer time drink: Beers

    Ingredients: beer stuff, yummy things

    Other possible favs: The Caeser (celery stick and celery salt mandatory);

Long Island Ice Tea (its been years since I've had one, but boy did I get good and liquored on a jug of the stuff)

No need for anything fancier than that, kids...

  12. Obviously we all want some sort of cinematic rapture to occur in the plush seats of the Cineplex Odeon, will munching salty popcorn and bitching about how much it costs to see a movie these days...

Star Wars is Star Wars... it is meant to work off of the old cliches, it is meant to be one-dimensional (think Han Solo), it is meant to be the epitome of B-movies (kudos Dog)... and girls aren't yicky/gross...unless they're from Sudbury...

  13. Damn work...its been interferring with my Skank time!!!

Anyway, I couldn't resist this thread as you left out one of the hottest hotties of the small screen...

Let me know who she is and I'll set you up with a night out on the town....

I guess this might date me a little, but what the hell! Gotta love the Action Bodysuit!
