  1. ...man, what a QoD indeed!?!

when it comes to hollywood pullin' the heart strings, i am the demographic! but here are some of the top tear-jerkers (in no particular order):

    1) charlotte's web

    2) the champ (ricky schroeder as the constantly sobbing kid)

    3) me pops

4)any movie where a dog, a horse, a goose, whatever finds an untimely demise at the hands of evil hunters

    5) i can see clearly now

    6) most supertramp tunes (nostalgia-wise)

I was recently at a funeral for a co-workers husband and they played "i shall be released" and i can honestly say that it was one of the most moving moments...

P.S. I suggest "Flesh Magnolias", an equally touching film that still requires a box of kleenex...

  2. once saw a stripper (her name was "Barbie" and eventually had to change it because of the doll of the same name) who did a routine with Ernie and Bert dolls...it gives the statement

    quote:

Ernie is big and Bert is little

    a more than warped twist!!!

    -

anyway, with all of our dogs and cats lounging on the bed, the only doll i can fit on the bed is my wife....

  3. ...please refer to the warning i gave above

i would first broach the subject with the person who would authorize the pay raise and get a feel for what their expectations are... if they jive with the 25-40% you're looking for, then VOILA! you've got your raise. Otherwise, you would need to dig your heels in and make some sort of argument in favour of the pay-hike you'd expect...

by the sounds of it, you shouldn't have much of a problem making your point!

  4. hey LJ,

its spooky how your situation closely resembles what i went through about five months ago at the company i'm with

originally, i was "signed on" (figuratively, i never did get a contract) for a month or so. then the woman i was working for left/was let go at precisely the moment they had made plans to hire a third person to team up with us.

now, here i is about four/five months later, doing the work of what was to be three people with no contract and a few promises! i'm not bitter, 'cuz the pay is good, the work is crazy and the people are great...its just the fact that they kinda got me by the kahunas and don't seem to be too worried about me. if i were to threaten drastic actions, i'm sure they'd get up off their seats and move, but i'm too much of a push-over [Wink]

Moral of the Story: judging by my situation, don't take any advice i might offer, get something in writing and a bird in the hand is worth a gift horse in the mouth

  5. being a married man (and therefore what is usually considered a "safe" male) , i can always act as a chaperone...you know, to keep the leeches away and make sure everyone's panties are accounted for....

sounds like andrea had a night that any Kingston Pen inmate would call a dream come true!

...i like that one too! all of the diehards i've had the chance to talk with so far have been more than willing to curb their enthusiasm and 'talk down' (in a very good way) to me... just to prevent a cranial overload on my part!

    happy to be

  7. that's the worst thing when you state what is likely the obvious (cancelling a show + lots of anxious fans = trouble, no matter what band it is, or what venue) and its made to look like a threat...

i call it the "Entertainment Tonite Effect" which is directly proportional to the inverse of the average IQ of the demographic most likely to listen to the crap wannabe journalism...

  8. i think those Czech dudes say it best:

    quote:

ale podle názvu souboru by se mělo jednat o část soundtracku k filmu Lord of the Rings od Leonarda "Spock" Nimoye

unfortunately/fortunately, i have no access to QuickTime at work so i won't need the electro-shock therapy to get me through the remainder of my life!

one bad apple spoils the whole bunch - specially with an attitude like that!!!
