You can make charging solutions using batteries and some simple circuits... but you would be wasting a ton of AA's http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2008/03/diy_multicharger.html You could also do something with pedal power http://www.los-gatos.ca.us/davidbu/pedgen.html I have also seen people make batteries out of trash a la Back to the future 2... but I can't find a link atm
