This sums it up better than I did: Raiders pass on Crabtree to take Heyward-Bey April 25, 2009 5:07 PM Posted by ESPN.com's Bill Williamson The Oakland Raiders just did what? Michael Crabtree fell to the Raiders and they needed to make him the pick. He is the best receiver in the draft and is going to be an outstanding receiver in the NFL. Darrius Heyward-Bey, however, is a project. He is very fast and he is a fine prospect but he is a risk. Many scouts thought he would be a late first-round pick. Al Davis' love affair with speedy receivers continues. Now, the Raiders are going to have to watch Crabtree develop into a star and hope Heyward-Bey's speed helps him become a No. 1 receiver. For a team that desperately needs receivers, this is a risky move.
