Any jamgrass fans here given Unseen Strangers a chance?
On top of being at the top of their game ( gigs at Del Fest to prove it) they are also a real nice bunch of guys.
here's a nice video done by the Stolen Souls Crew:

I like this one...
anyone need a guestlist?
-
bwhahha Twiddle....
I went their first year, it was a beautiful site.. .like a lot of bigger festivals these days, they have to main stages, side by side so the music between bands is usually seamless.
I'd love to go to this, but prob only at last min.
I once worked for Shapiro, he's a real visionary.

I think there was a really falling out of band members that led to the band's initial break up. The guys made good on their friendship shortly after the band broke up and I think they all needed a break to explore some other life experiences... nice to see them get back playing together. Band played some legendary shows in their day.. the seamless sets with GTB were also big highlights.

The wife and I went to the Ramble and saw Amy Helm and her band and it was quite a rockin' night. What a beautiful space and that Woodstock community is so very special.
I missed out on tickets to see Levon in his final days... I just got the feeling that Levon loves playing there and his spirit was still present.
-
I ran into him in Greenich Village last year, he was walking around with a lady friend... I just had to stop him and thank him for his music etc...
I was with a friend and he was like "who's that?" John who?
John Prine, he's getting old but still in his PRIME

Here's a nice little diddy from their recording session.
Adam on guitar is a monster player, his ideas and technique are always impressive.

The Unseen Strangers "Stranger Places" CD Release
Burdock Music Hall - 1184 Bloor St. W
Facebook / Online TicketsThe Unseen Strangers have ambitiously cultivated a musical identity shaped by good old-fashioned bluegrass, the limitless barrage of contemporary musical influences, and a curious sense of humor.
Newgrass ambassadors, The Unseen Strangers favor innovation over convention. For their newest album, Stranger Places (April 1st, 2016), the band challenged the limits of what they are capable of, exploring the gamut of what can be done with strings. The result is a collection of fun, stunning songs featuring inimitable instrumental performances.
The seven-part instrumental kick off "Ice Jam" launches the listener on an expansive journey through nine original songs, including the three-piece horn section funkiness of "Old City Jail" and the psychedelic newgrass epic "Square Trance". The Strangers also pay homage to their bluegrass roots on “Wicked Lover” and the freight train inspired barnburner "New Railroad Blues".
For Stranger Places, the band simplified their approach to the studio with quick, concise live off the floor sessions. The band teamed up with Toronto, ON based engineer and producer Andrew Collins (Creaking Tree String Quartet; Foggy Hogtown Boys), recording the album over several months in 2015.
The band was started in 2008 by Adam Shier, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and driving force behind The Unseen Strangers. Adam fell in love with the sound of Bluegrass while attending college in Halifax and was soon recruiting his best friends to be in a Bluegrass band. The band quickly recorded an album and were excited to win a Music Nova Scotia Award in 2009 for Bluegrass/Country Album of the Year. The has grown immensely from these small beginnings but a similar goal remains, to play new energetic bluegrass music with respect to the incredible lineage of its tradition.
The Strangers approach to bluegrass is open-ended yet inclusive; they’ve been on the roster for several forward thinking festivals, including Delfest, where they won the band competition in 2013. The Unseen Strangers continue to add to their diverse festival resume while consistently developing their sound both onstage and in the studio.

The Spandettes
Sequins for all people
The Spandettes are a powerful and exciting female vocal trio whose infectiously catchy three-part harmonies are backed by a fiercely energetic 7-piece band. Their original music gives a fresh and contemporary edge to classic 70’s soul-boogie -- inspired by disco, funk, RnB, pop, reggae, jazz and soul.
Their sophomore album Sequin Sunrise, coming out worldwide on March 4th, was released in Japan in August 2015 on the legendary Japanese label P-Vine. It inspired rave reviews and helped the band build a passionate fanbase, so much so that The Spandettes sold out two shows at the world-famous Billboard Live in Tokyo, where they also performed on-air at J-Wave, the country’s most popular radio station. Songs from new release have charted in the Top 40 all over Japan; the first single reached #1 on FM Northwave in Sapporo and #10 on the J-Wave Tokio Hot 100.
“All ten of us have jazz degrees, but The Spandettes are where we just let loose and reach the people,” says vocalist and bandleader Alex Tait. “Our shows in Tokyo were such a party, people were so happy they were actually in tears. That kind of authentic reaction really hit home for us and made us realize we’re exactly where we need to be as artists, regardless of how people might categorize the music. We want to use our music as a springboard to create and tap into fans’ positive energy wherever we go, especially through the body-positive movement. Between the three of us we have different shapes, voices and personalities, and that’s really a fundamental force behind our music.”

I watched the free stream on Saturday and I think it was a bit of letdown compared to the Nov. 1st show we saw in person. Maybe song choice, didn't seem they were as on as they were on the first MSG shows.

The wife and I had a blast last night at MSG. We were sitting right behind Jeff Chimenti.
Mayer was great - his solos got the biggest cheers. A lot of great energy!

I thought this was pretty hilarious.. no offence to Twiddle fans!
Reported from NYC Freaks:
1) The band hasn't done much of anything, but they get talked about constantly by very vocal minority.
Literally, I play guitar every single day.
