  15. www.smallworldmusic.com Small World Music Festival Finale w/ Vieux Farka Toure with dj medicineman Tuesday September 30 @ 9 pm The Mod Club 722 College Street 416-588-4663 Tickets: $30 advance, $35 door Soundscapes, 572 College St. 19+ Facebook link: http://www.new.facebook.com/editphoto.php?oid=81806900566&success=2&failure=0#/event.php?eid=81806900566 In association with Batuki Music, AfroToronto & Nufunk Vieux Farke Toure Since his childhood, Vieux Farka Touré has been deeply inspired by the music of his legendary two-time Grammy Award-winning father, Ali Farka Touré. Growing up in Mali’s capital, Bamako and his father’s hometown of Niafunké in the Sahara -- both teeming with rich musical life -- Vieux developed remarkable talents as a drummer and calabash player. After defying his father's wishes that he not pursue a life of hardship as a musician, Vieux was taken under the wing of the world's premier kora player Toumani Diabate; and the jaw-dropping debut album which soon followed includes some of Ali's final recordings. www.vieuxfarkatoure.com www.myspace.com/vieuxfarkatoure About The Small world Music Festival The Small World Music Festival has become the premier celebration of world music in the world's most diverse global crossing for music and art. Running from September 18-30 at a dozen venues all across Toronto, this year's 7th annual edition is the most ambitious yet, featuring 19 concerts and workshops that cover the most eclectic range of sound in the festival's proud history. Appropriately, GAP Adventures, the world's most cutting-edge adventure travel company based right here in Toronto, is the lead sponsor of the 2008 Small World Music Festival. The Festival is also supported by all three levels of government: the Canada Council for the Arts, Heritage Canada, Ontario Trillium Foundation, and Toronto Arts Council. Other keystone partners and supporters include: QUEX Inc., Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Roy Thomson Hall/Massey Hall, Lula Lounge, CBC Radio, NuFunk.ca, Batuki Music, Worlds of Music Toronto, CIUT 89.5 FM, CHIN Radio, ComPosition Music, Dinamo Design, MGS Marketing, Long & McQuade. The Small World Music Festival will change the way you think about music, and open your ears to a whole new world of sonic possibilities. Enjoy the shows! www.smallworldmusic.com
  16. I loved the story about Deifer - hilarious & humble - the banter between songs was as interesting as the songs. That violinist was also incredible - man what a night - me and the girlfriend are still singing and talking about the songs and the show.
  17. Riveting! Amazing! Emotional! Incredible!
