The New Deal's live interpretation of house, trance, breakbeat and drum and bass brought electronic music to live music fans and the band quickly found themselves at the forefront of a new genre of music, dubbed "Live Electro". The New Deal's ten-year career has produced nine records, spawned countless Live Electro bands, garnered numerous award nods and continues to inspire an ever-growing audience throughout North America who flock to their sold-out concerts. Their show at Lee’s Palace on September 6th marks the anniversary of their first pair of gigs at the notorious “Comfort Zone†in downtown Toronto. 14. I thought Obama was great - I'd vote for him in a flash. I think He's the right guy - McCain is too much of the old style - Bush vibe - I really hope he wins. I was very disappointed when John Kerry lost in 2004, I am trying not to emotionalize the campaign this time around - But Obama has some great charisma and it's going to be hard not to follow this race.
  15. Did they televise the acts or just the speaches?
  16. ...this talk makes the name of the festival take on a whole new meaning...
  17. Gonna be there Sunday night ! Excited for the end of summer funtimes!
  18. Promise Cherry Beach Sunday Afternoon Soundsystem Another happy summer at Cherry Beach is almost over culminating in the final party this Monday 3 - 11 pm. You will find the park at the end of Cherry St. in Toronto - along the sandy beach on the east side of the park, near the windsurfing club. This area is very magical place where over the past 10 years local event crew "Promise" has hosted free beach parties - helping create an important community event in Toronto. This year "Promise" has decided to expand the amount of lighting in the trees after nightfall and use bigger speakers, larger generator and a trailer to move everything to and from the site. The change make the events sound nicer, and more comfortable after dark. At 5:00 - 6:00 PM Toronto's The Chameleon Project will perform on the beach for the first time - bringing their brand of electronica jazz and dub. check it out y'all!! www.ilovepromise.com
