The album has been available as a free download for quite some time now, but since I wandered the lands all summer, I didn't have the time to plan a proper send off for this work into the musical universe. Until now.
My third release, Fluid Identity, continues to blaze the Loop Rock trail; a performance style and genre of music I like to think I invented. I mean, there have been other loop artists out there, but who else actually creates a whole musical experience start to finish in the context of the live loop right before your very eyes? That's what I thought!! The original foot stomping guitar shredding beatboxing funk songwriter from space. Shoeless!

Typically, when a band starts thinking about writing and recording a new record, they want to mix things up a bit, try something new, evolve…
With their 2012 release, Vive Le NuFunk, God Made Me Funky take on that challenge with more joyful abandon than ever before, offering up a tight set of ‘futuristic throwback roller skating jams’ that blend vintage soul, funk, R&B, modern hip-hop in equal measure.
Inevitably, however, every time GMMF set out on a new musical adventure, they’re forced to deal with more than just the question of how to expand on their ever-evolving brand of NuFunk. Put bluntly, while God may have made this band funky in the extreme, as the saying goes, ‘sometimes the lord giveth and sometimes the lord taketh away’. In GMMF’s case, the god of Funk seems to have a thing for offering the band’s singers opportunities they simply can’t refuse.
Featuring a crack 8-piece band including male vocalist Kaybe, keyboardist Danny Argyle, bassist Ben Miller, Rich Grossman on guitar, drummer Alan Witz and Arthur Kerekes on saxophone, Vive Le NuFunk, finds GMMF infusing their unique sound with a vibe inspired by 80s icons ranging from D Train, to Sheila E, to the late, great Donna Summer.
With a huge set list including one-of-a-kind mash-ups of funk, R&B and soul standards from the 70s and 80s, standout covers like their version of Triumph’s ‘Lay It On The Line’ and five albums worth of their own tunes to draw on, on stage GMMF never fail to keep the Funk flowing fast and furious. As a review on ChartAttack.com once put it “If you can’t dance to God Made Me Funky, you can’t dance’. While the lineup has changed over time, that hasn’t, PHATT al maintains: “The fans, the NuFunktonions, they’re like, ‘As long as you give us good music, we’re here to party with you guys and get down with the NuFunk.â€
On Vive Le NuFunk, God Made Me Funky pull out all the stops to keep that party going – and nowhere more so than on ‘Who U R’, a heartfelt thank you, PHATT al says, “to everybody who’s allowed us to live our dreams to this point.â€
Offering up everything from ‘rip the roof off’ party tracks like ‘Big Time’ and ‘Swagger Stance’, to sweet soul tunes like ‘I’ll Fly Away’, Vive Le NuFunk will inspire NuFunktonions young and old to tear up the nearest rug, strap on their skates, string up some disco lights and get down.
“When we come together with an audience, it always reminds us of going to New York when we were younger, seeing DJs setting up on lampposts, having a jam and a party and people roller skating,†PHATT al says. “That’s the atmosphere we wanted to capture on Vive Le NuFunk. We went hard for five years, doing 150 shows and a new record every year. Before this record we actually took a year off from the band, so it was like we were in zero gravity, floating around and seeing all these possibilities. We didn’t feel any pressure. All we wanted to do was write a record people would want to roller skate to.â€

Time to get thread back in high-gear as we're getting closer to the election.
And it's getting more bizarre by the second. John Stewart, Stephen Colbert and David Letterman have really field day with Romney, they're almost saying - this stuff just writes itself in regards to Romney.
Here's random list of things that Romney Campaign flubs:
* Calling Medium Income (Middle Class Income) - $250,000 household income or less
* "47% of American's believe that they are victims" Comment
* 2012 London Olympics Insult
* Foreign Policy Fluff criticizing Obama for Egypt & Libya Embassy Attacks
* “Join me in welcoming the next president of the United States, Paul Ryan.â€
* Clint Eastwood and the chair
* Not releasing his taxes
* Mitt Romney app spells America wrong "A Better Amercia"
* Apparently having a fake tan to appeal to Latinos on recent Latino TV show. ( He also previously said too bad he wasn't Mexican because of the possible votes that would have helped with)
How can this guy possibly win? Polls are still only showing a slight 3-6 point lead in the polls, but if there's problems with the new voting rules, who knows what could happen... I mean Rob Ford got into office!

Big ups!

Join us us for an incredible pairing of two spectrums of the new reggae movement. Easy Star All-Stars, famous for their reggae tribute albums and authentic dub, and Aggrolites, the Cali-punk infused "dirty reggae" party act. Both acts have new albums, Easy Star All-Stars with Thrillah, their interpretation of Michael Jackson's breakthrough album and Aggrolites are touring behind Unleashed Live v.1 a document of their signature fusion of reggae, soul, grit and determination. Get your tickets, this is going to be a wild Saturday night!
Easy Star All-Stars
Combining musical versatility, instrumental prowess, beautiful vocal harmonies and a superb rhythm section, the Easy Star All-Stars have established themselves as one of the top international reggae acts since their live debut in 2003. Thanks to their best-selling tribute album releases, Dub Side of the Moon (2003), Radiodread (2006), and Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Dub Band (2009), the remix album Dubber Side of the Moon (2010), as well as original releases Until That Day EP (2008) and First Light (2011), the Easy Star All-Stars have built a growing, dedicated fan base throughout the world, bringing together fans of reggae, classic rock, dub and indie rock into one big family.
The band has toured in over 30 countries on 6 continents, playing over 100 shows per year for the past 5 years. They've played loads of major festivals throughout the world, including an unprecedented three-day, three-stage stand at Glastonbury in 2009, which earned them a UK Festy Award Nomination that year.
Easy Star's Thrillah marks the band's first new tribute album since 2009's Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Dub Band. Starting with Dub Side of the Moon, the band has deconstructed classic albums and rebuilt them as reggae, helping to start a larger trend that has since become popular at major festivals and in other genres. As source material, Michael Jackson's Thriller was the first album the band tackled by an American artist, a non-rock artist and a non-concept record. The group found their usual innovative ways to transform the material, turning "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" into an Afro-Beat anthem and slowing down "Beat It" into a powerfully emotional roots song. On the record, the group is joined by guest artists like Steel Pulse, Luciano, Michael Rose (Black Uhuru), Spragga Benz, Cas Haley, Christopher Martin, Mojo Morgan (Morgan Heritage), The Green and others. On tour, the band will present the music on their own, as usual, mixing in music from this record along with hits from their entire past catalog of tribute albums and originals. The Thrillah Tour continues the band's nearly 10 year tradition of incredible live shows that have built them into one of the most popular touring reggae bands on the planet.
The Aggrolites
The Aggrolites are more than a band they are a movement unto themselves. They carry a banner - one created with their own hands. This banner reads, "Dirty Reggae," and represents their signature fusion of reggae, soul, grit and determination. For seven years, this dirty reggae bunch has rolled from city to city, across the pond and up main street USA. They rally the kids, the parents, the students, the cops, the bosses and the drifters. The people come, they relish in The Aggrolites, the dirty reggae and the joy that comes with it all. The liberating rhythms and catchy grooves demand a return trip.
Out of the Los Angeles school of hard knocks, The Aggrolites have earned a Ph.D in "feel good music." On the road they educate with the thunder and punch of the reggae drums and bass, the ripping, soulful melodies of the organ and guitars, and Jesse Wagner’s voice - a perfectly intact gift from Otis, Sam, Ray and Wilson.
The Aggrolites have a specific way of making music. They don't over think it, they don't obsess over pop culture demands, they walk onto a stage or into a recording studio and let "it" happen - a culmination of inspiration - from the road, from playing along side music legends, and from the energy and motivation of their die hard fans.

Lee Fields & The Expressions
There aren’t many artists who keep their cool well into their fifth decade in the business, but R&B veteran Lee Fields is one. After over 40 years of of touring the world with his signature raucous yet tender voice, the music he’s making today is the best of his career.
Fields’ new album with his band The Expressions, Faithful Man, released on Brooklyn’s Truth & Soul Records, a label which reinvents the Motown-style soul factory for a brand new era. The album interprets and pushes the formulas of great soul - thanks to Truth & Soul producers Jeff Silverman and Leon Michels and the high level of musicianship of everyone involved. These are the same individuals that co-wrote, produced, and played on Aloe Blacc’s global smash I Need A Dollar, and have provided the backdrop for records by El Michels Affair, Adele, Liam Bailey, Ghostface Killah and Jay-Z, to name a few. Faithful Man is Fields’ follow-up to the well-received 2009 album My World (Do Right/Truth & Soul).
Born and raised in the small town of Wilson, North Carolina, Fields spent his teenage years singing in church and listening to the classic sound of ’60s Memphis. By the late sixties, Lee was touring with foundational funk bands such as Kool and the Gang, Sammy Gordon and the Hip-Huggers, and Little Royal. In fact, Fields was nicknamed Little JB for his similarity to James Brown. From those beginnings, he’s created a sound that’s all his own.
With a catalog that ranges from funk to lo-fi blues, to contemporary Southern soul and collaborations with French house DJ/producer Martin Solveig, Lee Fields has done it all. With A Faithful Man, he takes it right back to the old school, with a modern take on a vintage sound, telling tales of love, heartbreak and blues in the time-honored way. And i f there were any doubt at all, take heed of Lee’s own words: “Take it from me,†he says on one track, “I still got it.â€
Soul Motivators
Finding the right groove means digging deep. With a love of vintage soul and funk, The Soul Motivators have mined their musicality to bring you a fresh revival of a retro sound.

Featuring numerous veterans of Toronto’s thriving underground funk scene, this 9-piece rare groove explosion has a rough, tough, soulful flair that motivates you straight to the dance floor.
Known for one of the most energetic shows in town, the band has been heard in many different places. The list so far includes the 2011 Toronto NuJazz Festival, CBC Radio 1 and CIUT FM to name a few. Now the band’s impressive summer schedule includes appearances at NXNE, TD Toronto Jazz Fest, and Toronto Beaches International Jazz Fest.

The Baudelaires
www.thebaudelaires.com
Inspired by the sounds of late sixties reggae producer Leslie Kong (Toots and the Maytals, Jimmy Cliff, Desmond Dekker, The Wailers), the Baudelaires like some soul with their reggae and they're not afraid of a little “church†too. That is, if church refers to the feverish gospel-cum-ska sound that Toots Hibbert drew on for hits like “Sweet and Dandy†and “Pressure Drop†or Desmond Dekker liberally borrowed for “Israelites†and Jimmy Cliff majestically carved into “The Harder They Come.â€
Formed with members from three bands in the Guelph-Waterloo area (the Jolly Llamas, What the Thunder Said, Brother Freedom), the Baudelaires revisit Jamaican classics such as “Reggae Got Soul,†“Soul Shakedown Party,†“Draw Your Brakes†and “Mix Up Girl†sometimes lovingly recreating a vintage sound, at other times giving the material an entirely new reading. They are artful dubbers. They are a rhythm machine. They are also intent on crafting modern classics: their original songs focus on the love of reggae culture (“Rae Town,†“Montrealâ€), the love of a good tryst (“Let Me Be Your Gun,†“Let Me Sleep in Your Bedâ€) and the love of a good clash (“Recession,†“Shame Shameâ€).
Dub Connection w/ Selector K Zar and Crew
Dub Connection is run by Selector K Zar and his crew of emcees and singers. It’s all analogue and it’s all vinyl. The music is raw, underground, and bass heavy. Selector K Zar has been a fan of reggae since his youth. He began playing dances in the early 2000s. He plays everything from big classics to lesser known gems he has discovered collecting vinyl., with a heavy emphasis on roots and dubwise. Currently in the process of building a custom soundsystem, along with engineer Illyes, Dub Connection parties are an experience best had live and direct!
