  1. [color:purple]I don't think Mark likes jamming with anyone.
  2. We called more roofers than I care to recall (somewhere around 20 probably). Most of them just flat out refused to do our house. (It's a 2.5 story with a really steep sloped roof and sits on a ridge that means it's 3.5 stories to the ground at the front.) We tried Sears but they are SUPER expensive and just turn around and sub-contract the work out anyway. I think they wanted $14,000 to do our house. Anyway, I wish you luck.
  3. Can anyone recomend a good plaster-person to me? Our walls are all lath and plaster and we tore all the baseboards out of the spare room on the weekend and would like to have someone repair all the plaster before we put them back up (after they are stripped down). It's specifically someone that works in plaster that we're looking for, as opposed to drywallers.
  4. I've got to tell you; the BBB is a total joke. We had our roof done a year or so ago and the company we dealt with, Heisler Roofing, were a complete disaster. I was really pissed off and since they 'brag' that they are members of the BBB, I decided to file a complaint. Well, the complaint resolution process is a fuckin' joke and SOMEHOW they (Heisler) were actually able to leave things looking like I was happy! HAPPY?!? I called BBB and they told me that this was the process. I explained that I had filed because I was disappointed with what had transpired and yet they were somehow able to make that look like a good review. They said there was nothing they could do and this was the process. What a joke. So, believe nothing you read on the BBB website.
  5. What an awesome way to spend NYE. I can't imagine the kind of party that will create. Ouch! If I didn't already have plans, this would be on my list of considerations for sure!
  6. I've often thought that a small turbine hung off the back of my belt and facing my ass could potentially generate enough power to keep my iPod and cell phone charged. Phhhhhhhhttttt...
  7. Wow, way to not answer the question. You should hang out with the people that answered, "home."
  8. Yup, Jamaica would top my list of the worst places I've been. [[[[[shudder]]]]]
  9. Yea, here's the article I was reading: http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2006/11/22/wind.html "He said the project has begun generating up to 99 megawatts of power this week. Once both phases of the project are complete, it will have a capacity of 198 megawatts." "According to the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, the province's target is for renewable energy such as wind to make up five per cent of its energy capacity — approximately 1,350 megawatts — by 2007."
  10. There was an article the other day (I'll see if I can find it) about Ontario opening the largest wind farm in Canada. It was near the connection of Lake Huron to Lake Superior from what I recall. 98 Megawatts right now and 198 Megawatts when up to full capacity. Alberta is the biggest competitor.
  11. Basically it's a large weekly slumber party accompanied by baseball card trading. The location is always secret until the night of and you have to call an 800 number to find out then. The whole deal is invitation only.
  12. That's exactly how I feel. No wonder we get along so well!
  13. I've since had business cards made with that job title on them! I recently came across that guy's card too. Funny shit for sure.
  14. You should have kept it; they make an excellent stew.

    The Slip?

Sounds like you were at LYS last year or something.

    The Slip?

I think you may be getting confused about the business relationship in place here. We (the bastards) are the consumer. We get to bitch about and criticize stuff. It's our money being laid down here. You think we should be thankful? Yes, just like Zune owners should be thankful that Microsoft tried to make a completitive MP3 player rather than complaining about its problems. I just don't see how you figure. I am very thankful that people like Shane work hard to bring us live music. That doesn't however, mean that I succeed my rights as the consumer. That's a ludicrous idea.

Did you mean to write whiney?
  19. Came across an article on CBC that referenced this report. Pretty frightening thing to read if you're a double-whole-milk-frappachino-with-two-squirts-of-vanilla type drinker. I drink my coffee black but I admit that if I find myself in a Starbuck's I tend to order a venti non-fat latte. From the report... The coffee, espresso, and tea that Europeans sip in their cafés hasn’t changed much over the years. But stop at a coffee house in Canada (there are probably two on the next block) and that 10-calorie beverage has likely morphed into a 500-calorie milkshake. Here’s how to keep your coffee break from turning into a Big Mac break. (Continue...)
